ALBERGO 900Strati, hotel in Bergamo

Located in Bergamo, 1.9 km from Centro Congressi Bergamo, ALBERGO 900Strati features a bar and views of the city.

A nice place close to the old town, a pleasant and quiet location. The train station is about 2 km away. There is a bus stop in front of the hotel. Breakfast is nothing special, mostly flour products. We stayed in on April 29 and May 1 (2 nights in total). The rooms were very clean. There were toiletries, but the second time they forgot to put a shower gel. There is also a restaurant and a bar in the hotel itself, the pizza is very tasty.

With a peaceful location, panoramic views across Parco dei Colli National Park, and a 2000 m² garden, La Valletta Relais is 1.2 km outside Bergamo Alta, reached by free shuttle.

Wonderful breakfast was served every morning by the owners. Rooms were perfectly clean and quiet, and there was a shuttle service to Bergamo old town, and it could also be arranged for a drop off at the train station, for example. I would arrange this place for any future Bergamo area trips without hesitation.

FAQs about hotels in Bergamo

A Bastion of Old World Charm

The arrival point of low-cost airlines and cheap flights to Milan, beautiful Bergamo is a tourist destination in its own right. In the foothills of the Alps, the city is spread over 2 levels. The main sights are in the upper level, or Città Alta, where sloping, cobbled streets open into pretty squares.

One such square is Piazza Vecchia with its pavement cafés, beautiful library and elegant Palazzo della Ragione. Through its arches is the Cappella Colleoni, an impressive chapel with an ornately sculpted façade and even more ornate interior. The next door Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore has awe-inspiring frescoes.

Surrounding streets contain several Bergamo old town hotels and B&Bs, while surrounding the whole upper city are 17th-century Venetian walls. There are still remains of the Rocca, the castle that guarded them, and there is also a castle in San Vigilio, a hilltop village reached by funicular railway.

A funicular also descends to the modern town – Città Bassa. Nearby is the Accademia Carrara, a fine art gallery, and opposite is the GAMEC modern art museum. The Serie A club Atalanta FC play in a stadium to the north-east, while south-west is the train station from where buses to Orio al Serio Airport depart.

Booking.com offers several Bergamo hotels near the airport and the neighbouring Orio Centre shopping complex.

Although I have been to Bergamo 24 years ago, I don't remember it being so beautiful and interesting. The Architecture is amazing, with beautiful, grand buildings almost everywhere you look in the city centre and so clean and attended to. Wonderful variety of cafes and restaurants along the main street, with a very effective, regular bus timetable which we used every day to get to and from Citta Alta where we stayed. The train station had regular trains that took us to Milan 45 minutes away and also to the mountains and lakes. Bergamo Citta Alta is also beautiful with many buses going to and fro every 10 / 15 minutes from the city. Food and service in both areas are really very good and although the staff appreciated my Italian attempts, most spoke English. Food and travel were also good value. Recommend train ride to Varenna on Lake Como, absolutely beautiful! Can't wait to go to Bergamo again.

It may just have been the time of year we went (April) but very few restaurants in our immediate area stayed open late. We arrived at one at 9.20pm to be told that they were shortly closing the kitchen! By the time we got to another we were told we would have to chose quickly what we wanted to eat as they were closing soon. So we felt quite rushed to choose and eat. We ate at Vox restaurant on 2 nights which was very nice and they stayed open late. The nearest supermarket advertised as closing at 9pm but would not let us in for just one item at 8.45pm! The area was ideal to use as a base to visit other areas; Milan, Lake Garda and Lake Como and also nearby Verona Citta alta was lovely though although we only went there in the daytime so can't comment on places to eat an evening meal.

Beautiful new town with many shops and cafes. And a very interesting old town with 12th-13th century architecture, narrow streets and beautiful churches. It sits on a high hill and has stunning views of the new town. There are plenty of cafes and pizzerias where you can try delicious pizza and eat a delicious cake.

Visiting Bergamo was one of the most memorable moments of...

Visiting Bergamo was one of the most memorable moments of our journey, and I'm eager to share my impressions of this amazing city. Bergamo is a place where every corner is steeped in history, and the air is infused with a sense of Italian charm and elegance. Walking through the cobbled streets of the Old Town (Città Alta), surrounded by Venetian walls that are part of UNESCO World Heritage, we were struck by the architectural beauty and atmosphere that seems to transport you back in time. The squares, filled with lively cafes and restaurants, offer exceptional dishes of local cuisine, allowing you to enjoy true Italian hospitality. The New Town (Città Bassa) is equally enchanting, with its elegant shops, modern bars, and panoramic views of the Old Town. The blend of history and modernity, traditional culture and innovation, makes Bergamo a unique place to explore. However, the most impressive aspect of Bergamo is its people. The locals are welcoming and ready to share their love for their city, making your stay even warmer and more memorable. Bergamo is not just a tourist attraction; it's a place where history, culture, and modern life merge together, creating something truly magical. I wholeheartedly recommend everyone to visit this city and see its beauty and uniqueness for themselves.

An amazing B&B in Bergamo. We are a family x 6 (2 x adults & 4 x children) 2 bedroom suite was spacious, clean and well appointed. Central location in Citta Alta and the private garden area has table tennis, sun loungers and was the perfect spot for breakfast each morning. The staff were friendly, flexible and provided a top notch service. Recommend the fresh daily breakfast with fresh fruit, meats, breads, cheeses, cereals, yoghurt,, tea and coffee. Highly recommended and will be back. Thank you for an amazing stay in Bergamo.

The true old style Italy in your room.the room was large and spacious the place is full of antiques far nicer than a new plain hotel or b&b with all you need for a stay down to a kettle and a mini fridge.the bathroom was fine a big shower a featurestone wall.heating an air con available too.the premises was just off a cobble stone street. The team contact you with all the details to access the room and are only a phonecall away should you need any assistance. They even arranged an early morning taxi to the airport for us.

Very nicely decorated room with rustic features to feel even more the Citta Alta spirit! The room was so clean that as soon as we enter the room we could appreciate an amazing fresh clean perfume of something remembering Marseille soap that stayed with us during all our stay. Breakfast was a nice surprise too. You can choose the day before what you prefer to have for breakfast and a real plus for me, being in Italy, it's the offer of fresh patisserie croissant. Loved my stay and will definitely return when in Bergamo.

Central location in a very stylish building with high ceilings, stylish lift and staircase. Minutes from train station, shops, restaurants, pubs. Room very clean, modern. Huge window, nice balcony with city view. Very comfy beds. Nice and big bathroom. 4 * hotel room standard in the city centre. No kitchen or any cooking amenities, but we didn't need any. Coffee machine in the room. No problems with checking in or anything really. Would recommend for city break in Bergamo or as a base for north Italy.

Excellently located hotel.  It is a short walk to the bus and train station...and the funiculare. Airport bus right in front of the hotel. Less than an hour on the train to Milan. An hour on the bus to Lovere on Lake Iseo. Spotlessly clean and very large rooms, ours had a balcony with a view of the Citta Alta. Breakfast had plenty to choose from. The staff were very pleasant, attentive and very helpful. I always stay here when in Bergamo. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The location was close to train station. We stayed as the flight was cancelled from Bergamo. The rooom for 4 of us was clean, although bit small in size. Private bath was clean and nice. The city tour of old Bergamo was an added advantage. Host Mr Daniel is a nice guy. He supported his best. The most supportive task was an early morning drop off to Bergamo airport by him, which eased out worry. Big supermarket nearby with some restaurants, so stay was fine.

Really nice apartment in impressive, modernist (could be Bauhaus, as suggested by posters on the walls) building. Perfectly close to Città Alta, newer city quarters and bus stop both to the station and airport (takes ~half an hour if you check timetables). Attentive host: only online, but very clear communication, precise instructions. Apartment has no kitchen, breakfast was simple, but the choice was all encompassing. Warm and crispy croissants! :)

Bergamo's walled upper town is a gem, and the hotel is on the narrow main street near the Cathedral. Location couldn't be better - you walk straight out from the front door into one of Italy's classic historical sites.
