From the moment we arrived until the day of departure, the hosts went above and beyond to ensure a memorable and comfortable stay. For Christmas they brought us cake and wine, and also a bunch of delicious fruit from Madeira. In addition to the hospitality, the property itself was a gem. But I want to mention that the terrace on the pictures was not from our apartment, it was shared with other units. So the photos may be misleading.
Overall, our experience here was fantastic.
Featuring air-conditioned accommodation with a balcony, CASA SOL E VISTA 2 is located in Arco da Calheta. With pool views, this accommodation features a patio.

Lovely host and great place to stay. Perfect location: quiet, peaceful and beautiful view of the ocean. I recommend to everyone - Our rating is 10/10.

Arco da Calheta is a local parish with character, spread out across a steep, hilly valley with narrow, winding roads, facing the Atlantic. Visitors will likely live among local residents and their wildlife (one or two cows, a few chickens & cockerels announcing their presence; cats & and dogs calmly roaming around), although more holiday accommodation is springing up, and Shopkeepers/restaurants are helpful, and often speak English, though not all! The weather is hard to predict sometimes , and can contrast across different parts of the parish: near the ocean , it is more likely to be calm and sunny; further up the slopes you will get more cloud and possibly wind on exposed sections. A visit to a local supermarket will likely mean either hopping in your car or a very bracing workout for your leg muscles!

Arco da Calheta is a very peaceful part of the island with little traffic and mostly locals. There are some excellent hiking opportunities nearby, most notably 25 Fontes, which is a very popular (and therefore very busy) but beautiful trail. Not recommended without a car as even amenities are long and steep walks away and the hiking trails are only accessible with car too. Taxis don’t work here and buses are very infrequent.

Quieter than the Funchal area and still central enough to explore the island of Madeira. Some small shops, bars and restaurants around.
Close to Calheta where you can find a supermarket and a couple of restaurants. And the most sandy beach of the island!
Living further up the mountains, means driving on more windy. steep and narrow roads. Staying closer to the coast will make driving easier.

This was our second time in Madeira, and first, we stayed in Ribeira Brava. The landscape in Archo da Calheta is very similar, with dramatic cliffs hanging over the ocean. The valley is falling into the ocean, making the place very picturesque. We loved the area and would recommend it to anyone staying there.

Lovely place for family of four.
Lovely place for family of four. Nice, comfortable and quiet location with very local climate. Bar with great coffee below and reserved car park space. Few minutes driving from supermarket and the beach. Weather was usually better then in Funchal. Handy distance to Fanal forest or other attractions on the west side of Madeira. Highly recommended.

The host was amazing.
The host was amazing. I can not say enough good things about her. She was concerned about our happiness throughout the whole stay. Lots of recommendations of where to eat and things and places to see. The house was exactly as described and very clean. I would not hesitate to stay here again if it was available on my next trip to Madeira. Best rental property out of all of my previous stays using Booking.com.

The staff were truly amazing. Monica and Kevin at the front desk were so friendly and helpful throughout and even after our stay. The food in the restaurant was delicious and served by a knowledgeable, respectable and super friendly waiter. Breakfast was tasty too! The pool was never too busy, and the balcony directly out from the room was a great space to chill and soak in the sun. We were truly sad to move on from this hotel, and will definitely be back if we're ever back in Madeira. Hope to see you again soon Engenho Velho! ❤️
The House was in exceptional condition. Catarina was waiting for us when we arrived at the house. We were welcomed with some extra goodies in the fridge for the next day breakfast and even a bottle of Madeira wine which we enjoyed that evening. The attention to detail was exceptional. Catarina even sent us places we should visit around Madeira which was really helpful and the location of the nearest restaurants and supermarkets. We totally felt at home. Thank-you.
Absolutely superb stay here. The owners are so kind and provided really helpful tips when we checked-in, as well as giving us some local fruits & delicious Madeira wine! The apartment is absolutely spotless and really well equipped (blender, food processor, washing machine, smart TV, great oven). There are 2 beautiful, sunny balconies. It is a really quiet and peaceful area with amazing views of the sea and the mountains. We will definitely return here!
Wonderfull ocean and valley view. Cute and well equiped appartment, with sleeping room upstairs. Nice and helpfull host Cecilia. Quite, just some village noise. Good connection to all island and levadas. Close to Rabacal tunnel, very recomended. Close beaches and shops. Of course, you need a car, it is usual in Madeira.
The property must be managed by the Savoy Hotel chain. I was contacted by email one day before we were scheduled to stay at the Hill Houses. The email stated that they were sorry, but the rental house was no longer available, and they could give me a suite at their 5 star Saccharin Hotel in Calheta.
Everything !!!!! The house itself is a pure jewel. Easy to navigate inside. Smartly made. And with very good material. Everything is well thought.
And it is the first time I got a welcome pack with somme goodies (madeira wine, tangerine liquor etc...) such a nice and sweet lady. Very very flexible.
Great place with a amazing view on the ocean. Nice swimming pool. Hotel is small, all rooms had a view of the sea and swimingpool and balcony. Breakfast was very good and also hotel restaurant offers very good dinner . Parking is available . Staff was very nice and friendly .
The house made for us a pleasant and comfortable home during our stay in Madeira. Exquisite location high above the sea shore, direct sunset view. Nice warm welcome. Rebuilt old cottage, modern but cozy, fully equipped. Sand beach within 10 minutes drive.
Everything was great! If you have a car, you are in maximum 30 minutes from almost every most remote point of Madeira island. The view from rooms and living room is awesome, kitchen is full of appliances
very friendly and helpful staff, especially Monica. comfortable rooms, ocean view from the room, there is a parking nearby. Hotel restaurant with good and tasty food. The breakfasts are excellent.
Remote but well situated for trekking/hiking. Next levada 10 meters from the house, good starting point. Several good restaurants in 30minute-walk range and very friendly hosts ( and cats&dogs) !!!!
Everything was just great! It was one of the best hotels I've stayed in. Also the stuff was very nice, Monica helped us everytime we needed something. Definitely an accomodation to be recommended.
Quiet part of the town up the hill. Almost no noise during the night. Own car very recommended. Kitchen well equipped. A couple of restaurants in the distance of 1-1,5 km.
