Location beautiful, right on the shore, but a bit away from Madalena, definitively need a rental car if you stay here.

An excellent introduction to Pico by the owner.
Lovely room. Exceptionally clean.

The entire experience from the first to the last minute was absolutely incredible. The house is beautiful and with a super cosy decor. Not to mention the huge garden that brings us peace and takes us into the middle of nature (you can even relax in a hammock!!). During our stay, we had a 30th anniversary and the accommodation offered us a (huge) cake and sparkling wine. All these treats make a difference and raise our expectations compared to other places.
Carolina (Reservation Manager) is lovely, super available and made us "feel at home"

I had not been back to Pico Island since 1998 during the year of the earthquake in the Azores. Since that time the Azores has certainly become quite different but in a positive way. This is a small quaint village that offers you all of the modern comforts to explore the beauty that is The Azores. Despite the modern amenities it still keeps it's old world charm. Lest we forget, the wine and the food. Magnificent!

Good place to stay when traveling to Pico Island - relatively close to the airport, has all the necessary facilities (taxi, banks, supermarkets, restaurants), and there are also year-round ferries to go to neighboring islands from there.

Central to everything that is required.
Central to everything that is required. We rented a car and drove by the whole island. (110 km.). We stopped in a few villages for a coffee, or beer, or just to drive through. Madalena is definitely our favorite.

Madalena is a nice small town suitable to serve as a "base" for exploring Pico and Faial islands. The ferry port is in the city so it is easy to commute and includes several rental cars companies as well as tour guides for climbing mount Pico.
The nearby natural pools has served us to refresh after a day long trail.
We recommend checking out the local wine museum where you can find the oldest dragon tree as well as trekking in the wine trail that starts just near Madalena.
In the town we enjoyed eating at the Mercado Bio restaurant that serves a nice variety of dishes suitable for all taste and preferences.

Small town with a few restaurants and church.
Small town with a few restaurants and church. There are some nice fish restaurants. Wine museum is worth a visit.
There are a few whale watching, snorkelling, and diving companies, also companies that can arrange land tours and trekking. It is close to the Pico mountain. The problem I had was, it was off season and the tour companies did not seem very interested to arrange activities for tourists. You really have to make an effort yourself to find and arrange any activity. My initial intention was to do some scuba diving with sharks or snorkelling with dolphins. But due to weather conditions (however I have to say that on at least 3 days I was there the weather was very calm, but perhaps there was a bit of surge) and lack of engagement of tour operators it was not possible. I only was able to go on a single whale watching trip (where we did see a couple of whales).
The best part of my holiday was when I rented a car and drove around the island myself. The island (Pico) is very lush and green, very scenic.

This must have been quite the hotel in its day but is quite dated now. Some of the staff were helpful while some were not helpful at all. We were here in the off season so maybe that had to do with it.
Everything. Manu thanks ti the boat JEIROES DO MAR and many thanks ti Booking, our flight was delay we lost last ferry from Horta, both Booking and JEIROES DO MAR not charge first night. The location in front of the Sea Is Amazing, the apartmet space Is huge the kitchen Is functional, many thanks ti Monica and Elizabeth for their help and kindness. There Is a big supermarket nerby 15 minutes walking and Madalena centre Is 10 minutes walking. Very good qualità for a correct prize. Thanks a lot. Mauro and Giuliana.
This hotel is close to all facilities. We had a good room, which was clean, comfortable and quiet. The breakfast room overlooks the pool and buffet breakfast was available. There is no Covid on Pico but everyone had to sanitise their hands before wearing gloves to serve their own breakfast from open dishes. Staff were hanging around serving area to monitor supplies but they obstructed the one-way entry/exit system.
Apartment is located in the Center of Madalena, short walk from the ferry terminal, near many of local restaurants and supermarket, and natural oceans swimming pool. Apartment is new, clean and well equipped. Beds are comfortable and enough space in the bathroom. Staff is very nice and helpful, we've get a bottle of local wine, cheese and some snacks welcome gift. Highly recommended:-)
The rooms are really big and spacious, and just opposite a really nice restaurant called Cella bar. There's also a sea spot you can swim in across the street. While it's not in Madalena itself, it's close enough to walk to it (there's no real point staying in Madalena anyway as it basically consists of 2 streets). We had views over looking the ocean and a really spacious balcony.
Perfect spot zu explore the island. Between Madalena and Lajes, the natural pool nearby is really nice and the view from the terrasse extraordinary with the pico at the back. We could watch dolphins from the terrasse.
The father of the host who was taking care of the house was really nice and helpful.
There was Coffee, tea, water and milk waiting for us.
Miguel is a super responsive host and super easy to deal with! The location is perfect, I particularly enjoyed walking from the apartment to the village and along the waterfront. Very close to all the grocery stores, restaurants, cafes and site in the village of Madalena. Would highly recommend this apartment!
Gorgeous house, beautifully decorated, spacious, clean, amazing views of Faial, beautiful sunsets. Very friendly host. The most beautiful surroundings to the house with lovely coastal walk and natural swimming pool in a nearby bay. Great views of Pico on the way into Madalena. Vinyards also in the vicinity.
The view from the front door was an impressive view of Pico mountain. The location was great. It was close to swimming and the town of Madalena, and quiet. Lots of good restaurants and easy to get around. Shopping for groceries was convenient, as was using this location as a starting point to visit Pico.
Great location by the ocean in Madalena. Lovely terrace set into vineyards. Spectacular view of Faial and fun to see ferries go back and forth. Loved having bathtub and house had everything we needed for wonderful stay. Bed was King+ and very comfortable. Very clean and would happily have stayed longer.
The location is perfect in Madalena, it is such a lovely little place to stay. Deborah and Ana greeted me graciously, and offered helpful tips and recommendations for my visit. Parking was easy. Their restaurant downstairs is wonderful.
The hotel is new with a good bed and bathroom. it is one of the few places on the island with a bathtub. The breakfast is also very good. The staff is attentive and the hotel makes some small actions to surprise clients positively.
The location was excellent, pretty close to the ferry and main areas in Madalena. There were only tow people in my room which makes it more private. The bed was confortable and it is close to a pretty nice natural pool.
The hotel was beautiful and in a great location. The views were amazing. The breakfast was excellent, and I liked that we could eat outside on the deck. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Proximity to the airport, to the ferry, to Madalena and to the supermarket.
Very friendly and helpful hosts, both before the travel and during the stay.
