Incredible experience from start to finish. I only stayed one night, but I felt immediately at home and could not have been happier. The private, in-room onsen was the highlight of the room without question. Such a wonderful way to unwind and I spent hours in there. They keep the onsen very hot, hotter than most I've been to, but it's easy to add cold water to cool it down and if you go too far, a call to the front desk will have hot water piping back in. I enjoyed soaking while watching the snow fall through the open window - and was very comfortable!
The room was extremely spacious with sliding partitions for each area, so if traveling with a partner or family, it would be easy to create privacy when needed. In-room amenities were great. Nice lotions, soaps, etc. Lighting in the room was very nice - I believe about 6 different settings you can choose from to create the mood you're looking for.
The meals were absolutely top notch and unforgettable, both the dinner and breakfast. I can't say enough good things but the food surpassed all my expectations. Simply lovely.
Checking in and out was very smooth and simple. It was easy to catch a taxi from directly outside Tobu Nikko station and when it was time to leave, the staff called a taxi for me.

The hotel exceeded my expectation. Relative to typical Japanese hotel near train station, its room size is big, Location is great, just 5-minute walk from the station. For visitors who use the Tobu Bus services to visit the far off areas, the first bus stop is just opposite the hotel! Breakfast is good. And it has onsen (indoor and outdoor) which is great after a day trip!

Great location - just opposite to 24/7 Family Mart, and close to JR station and bus station. Toshogu can be reached on foot too. A good number of lockers - you need to insert a coin, that you take back when picking up the baggage. We saw a note about breakfast option, that looked nice and not expensive - but we didn't try it out, so can't say more. And nice amenities, like kettle or fridge. Finally - a surprise was waiting for us: according to the reservation, we were supposed to use shared bathroom, but in the end we got a room with a private one.

We visited quite a few places during our two week stay in Japan (Tokyo, Kyoto and then we took a two day bike ride from Imabari to Onomichi). Nikko was the most beautiful of the beautiful places we visited. Took a bus ride up the hill and hiked in the forest which boasts two types of bear, deer and monkeys. The temple was beautiful and we enjoyed trying local food. We each had a "Yuba set" at a local restaurant.

The rooms were freezing cold no heating and it was -5 inside the hotel. They provided us with one thin blanket nothing like advertised, the windows were open and unable to close. We are having to seek medical help as one of my friends has developed hypothermia. No food no drink and the toilet facility does not flush.
Said in advert the beds would be made up for us. After a vicious scolding by the owners wife we had to awkwardly make up our own beds with no instructions at all.
If you like being shouted at, sleeping on a solid cold floor with a stone for a pillow this is definitely the place for you.
Didn't really wanna even give the one star but no choice for 0*.

Nikko is a lovely small place.
Nikko is a lovely small place. The local Chinese on the high street has amazing food, it has a very small door and would be easy to miss, but make the effort to find it.
The temples are amazing, but I loved the mountains, if you like trekking then you will love Nikko.

Fabulous place to visit with the right balance between nature walks and temple and shrine visits. Our favorite visits were Toshogu and Rinno-ji Temples, a day trip to Chuzenji Lake and Kegon Falls with a walk towards the Italian and English Embassy residences was beautiful. If you still have time, the Imperial Tomozawa Villa is worth spending a couple of hours at. We did everything by bus and it was very well organised. Train station has convenient coin lockers for luggage and a Yamato counter to deliver your luggage at your hotel so you can start visiting without being troubled.

i loved the variety of hiking trails - there was no shortage of beautiful nature. there are populated trails and quieter trails, and the bus service was very convenient once i got the hang of it. while the shrines were pretty enough, i preferred the rinnoji shrine gardens and would have preferred to spend more time hiking instead of fighting with the crowds at toshugu shrine. senjogahara was stunning and i would have liked to spend more time at the yumoto and kirifuri trails.
october was a little early for autumn leaves, so maybe i will return later in the year next time. that said, it was a pity i just missed the shrine festival this year!
The owner is very friendly and helpful. She showed us places where we could eat and gave us a map with the bus timetable.
Rooms are spacious, beds are comfy. I think it was my best sleep in any hotel I have ever stayed in. There is also an electric heater under the futon, if you need one.
Just like other reviewers mentioned, In the morning we were given a breakfast that was not included in the price. It contained meat, bread, multiple vegetables and fruits. Again, the best breakfast I ever had.
Breakfast and dinner buffet was bigger than I expected! Various things you can choose from.
All three Onsen were very clean! The one on top of the Hotel was awesome at night! Enjoying a hot bath while whatching the stars is something one is not doing every day.
Staff were very friendly and will give their best to help you.
They also have shuttle buses from/to the Hotel
e.g. Utsunomia Station, various attractions nearby and to Nikko!
The hotel in our opinion is the gateway to Nikko. While the hotel premises have aged, the hotel remains clean, functional and comfortable topped with great service. The proximity to a coin laundry, supermarket and several highly rated restaurants makes the hotel something to return to for our future visits to Nikko.
We checked in on White Day and received a box of chocolates. A nice touch that puts a smile on our faces.
While the location of this property is fantastic, it was the staff that truly made this hotel and our stay special. Rarely have we stayed in a hotel and been made to feel so welcome. the staff at Hatago Nagomi are incredible. From the moment of our arrival, it was clear we were in for a treat. We plan on staying here again on our next trip to Nikko, and will enthusiastically recommend this property to our friends.
The Onsen was great, clean and quiet! Very close to shoyoen garden and located not that far from Nikko station and Tubo station. Staff are very helpful and communicative over booking chat mostly for us, came picked us in the rain with a lovely smile. Yukata (a special Japanese suit)
Is in very high quality and felt really good.
To sum up-we were too old for that kind of experience.
the room was big and spacious for 4 people with big luggages. futon was comfy and warm. it is very near to the red bridge and main city centre. hotel is right outside the city bus stop that can bring us to the attractions around nikko. located in the vicinity of restaurants and convenient stalls. the hotel provided tea and bread.
Great capsule hotel.
I really liked the room that resembles a train compartment.
It has everything you need: a bed, wardrobe, TV, headphones, and a desk.
On the first floor, there's a room with a bath.
They also provide yukatas. Wonderful hotel.
If I'm in Nikko again, I will definitely come back.
Everything exceeded my expectations! The hotel is located some 5 minutes from the train station. It is a large and magnificent Japanese style hotel. There is a small restaurant at the premises that provides delicious meals. There is an open air onsen and a shop as well. The view from the room is superb!
Really loved my stay here! Not a new and shiny capsule hotel, but well-kept and lovely vibe. Incredibly convenient with station proximity. The staff were very helpful when I needed to find a pharmacy. I’ve lived in Japan before but never been to Nikkō, and this hotel made it a great experience.
This is an excellent hotel walking distance to the shore of the lake. It is very clean and staff is kind, attentive and supportive. They offer a shuttle bus once per day from Nikko Station. There are three hot pools, one inside and two outside. Japanese style rooms are big and very cozy.
For Nikko this was a really well priced hotel. The staff were friendly, and the room was really large. The onsen at the hotel was lovely, and we enjoyed it everyday. The hotel is a little far, but the staff would call us a taxi if we need, but it is close enough to walk to the shrines.
Nice location. Very near to the World Heritage site (Kanman Park) so anyone can easily cover the spot.
The hotel has a good dining area and has good amenities. Nice staff, nice and clean rooms. Onsen facility is available so it is a good deal if you have the time to enjoy.
it’s an authentic Japanese house very big for a group of 8 we where a family of 5 and our kids have great time. I forget something and our host send it to next hotel also he help us with a private tour and everything to get around nikko really recommend. lots of amenities .
Would recommend the meal in the room in Japanese's style room. It was not what I picked but it looked like a nice experience. Hotel are within walking distance to temples. Great Location. No need to buy the local bus pass. Use Tokyo Bus pass to get around.
It's an old hotel - list most in the area - but very well kept. Our room was part of the renovated ones, Japanese style but with very comfortable western beds. Spacious and with a gorgeous view of the river. The hot spring was nice.
Location is near Tobu Nikko and JR Nikko Station, the value for money, kind staff, complimentary breakfast is good, there’s supermarket nearby, clean room, spacious than common hotel room in Japan
The onsen and the dinner are definitely the highlights. The hotel is also very well located, next to the main shrines. A great way to experience the best Nikko has to offer for one night!
The hotel was basic, but clean and had everything you needed for an overnight stay at Nikko. The complimentary breakfast was nice and pretty good considering it was included in the price.
Very confortable hotel - 25 mn from Nikko shrines but well worth the distance. Food is very good. Great onsen. Staff was very nice, despite not so good english.
