I was on a hiking weekend with my local ramblers.
Hiking opportunities in the areas are plentiful and the scenery stunning. 1st hike was along the Cinder trail then onto the Cleavland way to Robin Hoods Bay , our 2nd hike was a circular Over Goatland beautiful open moorland and countryside lots a varied bird life. We visited the wonderful Goatland steam railways station a little gem of history and a delight for railway enthusiasts.
We arrived Friday and had booked on the ghost tour on Friday night. We met at the Brewery where we enjoyed live music and some sampled their pizzas which they highly recommended.

I LOVE WHITBY.
I LOVE WHITBY.
I go twice a year, staying at different parts of Whitby every time.
My husband and I went twice a year but he passed away two years ago so I still go on my own as I know Whitby so well. I don't go anywhere else for my holidays. We fell in love with Whitby years ago so why go anywhere else?

Lots to do and see for a short stay. Some excellent restaurants and bars. Best fish and chips ever at restaurant above harbour. Cottage was located above harbour so steep descent down. Climb upto Abbey worth it though!
First time in Whitby so pleasantly surprised!

Fantastic shops, mostly very quirky and unusual rather than the normal high street rubbish and tourist tat. Lots to see and do from a variety of museums (never seen a baby lobster before!) to short trips out into the North Sea - complete with pirate! Fish and chips everywhere! Lovely interesting pop up markets. Easy parking. Train station smack bang in the middle of town. All easy walking distance providing you can cope with one or two steepish routes. Did one side of the river on one day and the other on day 2 - just enough to keep us busy for two full days. Highly recommend as an interesting getaway.

Been going to Whitby for years, always enjoy it.
Been going to Whitby for years, always enjoy it. There's plenty to do and see, the museum in Pannett Park is well worth a visit, but allow most of the day, it's got everything from dinosaur fossils to matchbox cars. The Abbey is dear for what it is, I went 60 years ago when it was free, I wouldn't pay to go in unless you're really interested in that stuff. However, across from the Abbey is Whitby brewery, so you can have a pint while sitting and looking at the Abbey. Much better option imo. A good place to eat is Trenchers fish restaurant and the Ship Inn is my favourite pub

A combination of a lot of things, the history, the beach, the pubs , the location... these are all good things. Wetherspoons and the little Angel pub are favourites of ours.
The negative are, things can be a little bit pricy. Not all the fish and chip shops are good.
Clean spacious room with lovely sea view. The hotel is in a wonderful spot and you can sit outside on the terrace with a drink just enjoying the view over the harbour and town of Whitby. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly reception staff. My hairdryer failed and they exchanged it straight away. Could even get support at any time of the day by going down to 24-hour reception (I didn't know how to use the phone in the room). I cannot comment on food quality or service as I did not eat in the hotel.
The staff were friendly and willing to help. The hotel is a short drive or good walk into whitby so quiet enough but close enough.
The facilities were clean and had everything you would need - iron available from reception. The room was very spacious and quite grand with a comfy bed and the shower facilities were clean and modern. The stand alone roll top bath was a great touch, if a little shorter than anticipated by the pictures, but still lovely.
Spectacular view of Whitby - the steps, the ruined abbey, the town, the harbour, the beach, the sea… wow!
I was lucky enough to find a brilliant pizzeria a few hundred yards away for my evening meal - Pizza West https://www.pizzawest.co.uk/ - which had friendly, welcoming staff, stylish decor and great food.
Breakfast at the hotel was good.
Room was comfortable and tv worked
Beautiful apartment with original wooden floors sash bay windows and plenty of space for 4 adults and a couple of little dogs, host even left some milk, tea and coffee for our arrival. Parking is a bit of a nightmare expected really in a busy seaside resort with parking restrictions, but there is plenty of space a 10 min walk away. Would 100% stay again if I was in whitby thank you
We found the hotel beautiful.
Our room was excellent, spacious and comfortable.
The bathroom was also of a high standard, TV above the bath and the spa bath was a welcome bonus after our walking.
The staff were always help and polite, nothing to much trouble for them.
