Malachite Manor, hotel in Underberg

Located 8 km from Underberg, Malachite Manor has well-equipped accommodation boasting free WiFi. Fitted with a patio, the units feature a TV and a private bathroom with bath.

We love the room with the outside terrace the seating area inside and outside is very good. As the bathroom is in the room, it was nice to have a separate toilet. The shower and the bath were good, but the small basin doesn't have a good mirror and light, just a small mirror you can place close. Our host Thandi was very helpful. We booked dinner on the day of arrival and it was so good, we enjoyed dinner there on the other 2 nights as well. We left a sweater, and the owner was very helpful, she sent it to us by courier.

We loved the location, so close to the river. We loved the space, which was comfortable and clean. Thembi, the lady who welcomed us, was so very accommodating and friendly. And very thorough. The house was absolutely 💯 clean and tidy. We took a drive up the hill to the right of the house for an absolutely stunning sunset sundowner. What a magnificent view of the Drakensberg mountains. There are two beautiful shallows nests on the porch, which was so lovely to see and we felt so privileged to see that.

Great place to stay if you want to unwind and take some time off the grid. Perfect place to disconnect from all the stress and pressure of life. Definitely need a 4x4 or an all wheel drive vehicle. No restaurants or any other facilities close-by. Closest town is Underberg and mostly travel by gravel road. Wouldn't change anything and will definitely be back.

Great location and very quick response from the host when any questions/requests were sent through. Overall we had a great stay and it was everything a rustic location should be. We’d definitely go back. A few recurring issues remain (from previous reviews) and a couple of comments from myself: - the sliding doors don’t lock and are very stiff on the slide - gas bottle ran out on our first night. It was replaced first thing next day, but meant no cooking on that morning due to load shedding - the games are missing key pieces and are not in great condition - there is a tv but you need to take all leads to connect it to any device you take. There is no dvd player or other media device connected to the tv.

Stunning landscape with open space and rolling green hills wherever you look. It was overcast and misty during our stay, which just made the views more striking. Lots of nice places to eat, museum and shops to visit.

A beautiful town looking into the Southern Drakensberg.

A beautiful town looking into the Southern Drakensberg. Beautiful scenery. Lovely hikes. Good clean air. Brilliant for those that enjoy the outdoors. Need to have own transport. Has a Spare, Pep and Ackerman's in the town. Petrol garages available. Little eateries available and KFC. Personally I like being on the hiking trails around. Sani Pass is near so is Drakensberg Gardens. Plenty of B&B's and Cottages for accommodation.

    Very friendly people.

Very friendly people. Grind cafe has the most delicious pizzas. A drink and view from Sani highest pub, is a must. Used Major adventures, to take me up, they are so professional and informative. Other family members walked the Sani Choc walk. So much to do in close proximity to where we were staying.

Hands down best experience we could have. The accomodation is very easy to get there and the perfect start for a Lesotho tour. It's clean and nicely renovated with a beautiful garden. The hosts were really helpful and courteous. We got lots of advice regarding the stay in Underberg as well as the whole trip. They even gave us some advice on how to drive to the next stop savely. We also had some vegetarian/vegan options for breakfast. Overall just great experience :)

We got upgraded from a B&B reservation to Self Catering Accommodation with no price changes due to availability. The staff are friendly and helpful. The location is perfect if you want to tour Sani Pass which is +/-20 minutes away. The property has a huge garden for guests to stroll and soak up the sun. We stayed in winter when nights reached below zero temperatures, but felt so comfortable due to the electric bed warmers.

The location of the Drakensberg Gardens resort and particularly Fairways is absolutely fabulous, there is something for everyone; hiking, biking, golf, fishing, many kiddies fun areas, teenage places to escape and still be safe, with attentive staff all over. The unit 124 at Fairways has everything you need for a family / friend group stay. Having a washing machine and tumble drier makes longer stays very easy.

Beautiful views at sunset with large fire and complementary wood provided. The stay was comfy and perfect for cold weather with the heated blankets, indoor and outdoor fire places and well insulated. The owners Virginia and John were so lovely and went above and beyond to help with anything necessary including providing information and directions on the beautiful secret spots around Underberg.
