Porto is a beautiful city with lots of sightseeing opportunities. Ideally enjoyed our guided cycle tour with Artur definitely worth booking as you get to learn lots about the city while enjoying the fantastic scenery. The restaurants served the best seafood I've ever tasted and really reasonable price.I used the Bolt app for taxis which was definitely worthwhile.

Wonderful city, people are very friendly, can walk around easily to monuments, restaurants, wine tasting, street cars.
The city has steep steps back and forth from the river, so need for gyms to get your cardiac exercise done. There are cheap Uber or taxis if you need to get back up if necessary

Wonderful city with so much to see and experience.
Wonderful city with so much to see and experience. We did the "6 bridge river cruise" which was lovely and learned so much about the city. The food is great. You must try the "francesinha" at Brasao Restaurant". Definitly the best in the city. We also enjoyed a night with "Fado". The perfomers and the location were perfect at "Fado Maior do Porto". The cable car ride was really nice, the views are breathatking and when you hop off at Vila Nova de Gaia there is so much to see in the harbour area. The Light show inside the Torre dos Clerigos is amazing. the Mercado do Bolhao is so interactive and there is so much to see and food to try.

Porto is an amazing city and a must see on your trip to Portugal. Beautiful monuments and architecture, great restaurants, lively city vibe, many caves for a fun port tasting experience, close to the Douro Valley or other small towns if you would like day trips, lovely river separating the two sides of the city where you can take a short or long cruise. So much to offer.

It was amazing.
It was amazing. It was my first stop on a months travel round Portugal, Spain and France, it really set the holiday up for a day time. I have never travelled on my own before and as an 18 year old girl I was a little worried but the people and atmosphere made me relax very quickly and in the 3 days I was there I really got to know the place and feel safe and confident in everything that I was doing. Porto cathedral and the Ribeira as well as the Jardim do Morro are must sees. The cathedral has amazing views and architecture and down by the river is a great place to sit and have lunch or dinner the Fábrica da Nata makes amazing sandwich’s for not that much money. At sunset I recommend going across the Luis I Bridge and going to the garden it gets very crowded but the atmosphere is amazing with live music and drinks and food and of course the amazing sunset. Traveling around Porto is so easy there is a metro from the airport that takes you straight into the city and it costs €0.10 and well I was there I walked everywhere however there were plenty of metros that would have been very cheap but you would t get the same sense of the city as you do when you walk.

Nice friendly people.
Nice friendly people.
However, difficult to get a seat in any good restaurant.
Book your table in advance to avoid disappointments.
Proper shoes or trainers needed to walk about, due to the cobbles and the elevation, up or downhill. High heels not recommended or make sure your hospital cover is up to scratch.
Beer is standard at 6 or 7 Euro a pint.(500mls) 8 or 9 Euro for cocktails. Spirits better value but as usual the mixers get you up to 9 or 10 Euro. Transport is slow most of the time, due to the volume of traffic, that’s taxis and buses etc.
Good bus links to the rest of Portugal and beyond.
Porto is part of the Camino de Santiago Compostela, the Portuguese Way. Bon Camino!
The friendliness of the staff was exceptional, we were made to feel at home from the moment we walked into the hotel, nothing wasn't too much trouble. Our room had a balcony (5th floor) decent sized room with a safe, nice bathroom. The location was very good as we were first time visitors to Porto, easy to find everything, metro nearby as well as busses and train station. Lots of restaurants nearby and one under the hotel. Good continental breakfast provided. We would certainly stay at this hotel again when we revisit Portugal.
Hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful, great and nice people. You can leave your baggage after check-out.
Location is also great, in walking distance to all touristic locations, surrounded by a tons of cafes and restaurants.
Really good price for this location.
We were in January, and even with heater it was a little bit cold in the room, but it is more about overall Portugal problem, we met this problem in every hotel that we have stayed in this trip.
Our first night in Portugal was lovely at Casa Velha. Gil was kind and sweet, and offered us some helpful information and a map. The room was clean, comfortable and lovely. The location is perfect- local enough to be quiet and feel very Porto away from tourists, yet walking distance from everything we wanted to do. Gil also accommodated us leaving our suitcases while walking on the day we left. Lovely stay!
We stayed 2 nights in BessaHotel Baixa in suite room while traveling across of Portugal. It was an amazing experience with hotel’s quality, hospitality of staff, and stunning food taste in a restaurant. The winning pool, sauna + relaxing massage after long walking tours around the city is a MUST! The BessaHotel Baixa hotel will be my preferred one for the next time we are in Porto.
Staff there is really lovely. Vanya was always there to help, and nuno to greet us and available online. They don’t have possibility to serve hot food but they do their best with breakfast although as a pastry lover I could have more options with its since Portugal has so many tasty pastries! Location is super great not to far not in central so perfect.
We had upgraded rooms. Very comfortable, newly equipped. Very comfortable beds and quality facilities in the room. Very good sound insulation. The balcony door opens wide, making it very cozy. Wonderful breakfast (best of all the hotels visited in Portugal during our trip), very friendly and helpful staff.
Me and my wife were visiting Portugal and Spain for our 25th anniversary. Porto was part of our itinerary. We stayed at Eurostar for 2 nights. This is a fantastic place. It has nicely renovated rooms, central location and very friendly and hospitable staff. They have spa included in the price of the room.
Breakfast was excellent, room was adequate, a/c did not work at first, but eventually the staff got it working. Very pleasant staff. The only complaint is that this hotel, as well as pretty much all others in Portugal are Way Overpriced for what they are. I suspect that this bubble will soon burst.
I needed to find a pharmacy but it was a bank holiday in Portugal the day we checked in. The manager phoned around to find an open pharmacy and then their driver drove me to the pharmacy and waited while I got what I needed. I have never had service like that before!
This was our second stay at Maria's lovely apartment (Our trip to Portugal consisted of a stay in Porto, then Lisbon then back to Porto)
It was nice to know we were returning to somewhere we knew would be comfortable and relaxed.
This hotel is exceptional on all levels. The staff goes above and beyond to make for a wonderful experience. The size of the room and attention to detail was superior to many other hotels I stayed in throughout Portugal.
we loved everything about this property. It was our splurge location on our trip to Portugal, and it was worth every penny. You’re right on the river
and on a square with lots of activities, music, restaurants, etc.
This was a beautiful apartment. It had wonderful light, was very spacious, and had all the amenities we could ask for. It was much better than any other properties we stayed at in our trip in Portugal.
Clean, simple, small room. Perfect for one night stay. Has elevator which is a bonus in Portugal. Centrally located to some of the major sight and lots of restaurant close by.
My birthday fell during our stay and on their own the staff delivered champagne and dessert to our room. Breakfast was the best we had in any hotel in Portugal.
It was very spacious. Besides the kitchen area with table and chairs, there was a full size couch. It was the most comfortable room we had in Portugal.
