Amazing location, really close to the train station and a local shop, lovely woodlands nearby and an absolutely beautiful room! Arrived at 10pm and the staff were very accommodating and allowed for a late checkin, the room was very clean, comfortable, and cozy, would 100% recommend and stay again :)

Staff was very welcoming. Sent us directions by text as we journeyed up to ensure that we didn't miss the turn into the property (which is not that easy to spot) - made us a pot of tea on arrival - and had whisky available as a nightcap in the drawing room for free. House itself is large and with eclectic collections of antiques on show. Situated in its own grounds and so a pretty quiet location.

We didn't actually do anything in Livingston, just used it as a place to stay while at another event in Edinburgh. What we did see while driving looked OK though. There was a couple of food places across the road from our hotel (Livingston Lodge) which were good.

The shopping centre is a 7 or 8 minute walk from Mercure Hotel. It is enormous. We looked round main shopping mall in the morning and the designer mall in the afternoon. Filled a whole day. Electric car chargers behind Asda but a little tricky to find the way in the car. We found them by walking then went back to get car to plug in. Sat Nav invaluable in Livingston.

Fantastic shopping centre and designer outlet as well as lots of retail parks. There are plenty of outdoor spaces and sports facilities as well as places of interest close by. Lots of options for dining in or takeaway. Easy to get around by car as long as you don't mind roundabouts!

we arrived and booked in straight away, staff pleasant, room was clean although a bit cool, so upped the heater. Left to visit the shopping area which we found very easy to get to, on return the room was nice and cosy. We had been for afternoon tea earlier so were not hungry , so later in the lounge we shared a pizza, served by a pleasant girl. Used the swimming pool the following morning, it was super, just the right start to the day.
Great service - Renata was very responsive to our requests- nothing was a trouble. The hotel is small and personal - like a home away from home, very quiet and surrounded by parkland with a great selection of woodland walks. Bankton House is very close to the railway station with regular trains to Edinburgh and Glasgow - very convenient as we were attending the Edinburgh Festival.
I stayed here once before, so knew the hotel a little. A "Genius Level 3" Booking.com room upgrade meant I got a larger room. Everything was sparkling clean. The free WiFI connected easily and the connection was rock solid. Plenty of parking was available at the hotel. Staff were pleasant and helpful. I enjoyed a tasty evening meal in the restaurant, which was reasonable value.
The staff are very helpful, I have MS and COPD. I travel alone, and the staff make it clear that they ate thete for whatever my needs may be. They are caring, They usually put me in the same room as I liked it the first time. The hotel is spotless, and all the staff are very courteous. The restaurant, the food is delicious, They served generous portions.
Nice ambience in this handsome 16th century tower house with own substantial grounds. Excellent value for money for a very smart hotel although suspect prices will rise after business travel and wedding business returns. The surrounding areas of Uphall, Broxburn and Livingston are not tourist destinations, but nor do they pretend to be.
We liked the peaceful location which was central to everything we needed. There are many nice restaurants and good shopping in Livingston. Places to visit less than an hour away include the Kelpies which are quite stunning. The property is minutes from the train station and bus routes. Quiet and comfortable with good wifi.
The staff were welcoming, friendly and very helpful - especially on finding the location and providing numbers for local taxi services. The hotel is situated in a lovely quiet area close to wedding venues and the local train station. The breakfast was amazing and is definitely a must-have when staying there.
Equivalent to a luxury hotel, this will be my first preference for future stays in the area.
Breakfast was amazing. Beds really comfy, loved the little 'wee nip' as a treat from the host. Even had sky TV
Food was amazing the staff in the restaurant were sooooo nice and it was a 5 minute walk to Livingston designer outlet which was ideal. Couldnt have asked for a better location
Lovely clean house, had everything you would need. Like a home from home. Thank you for a great stay. We have family in Livingston so would definitely stay here again.
The room was very nice, clean quiet as requested and we'll equipped.
This hotel is opposite where my daughters stay so very convenient for me to stay when I visit .
Fabulous!
Really clean, tidy, well decorated. An ideal base in the Livingston area.
Emma (the lady we dealt with ) was extremely helpful.
Would love to stay again.
Beautiful hotel and staff were welcoming. Room was exactly as seen in pictures on Booking.com. Great place for nice pictures and not too far from Edinburgh city
I have stayed at the hotel several times for work and the service has always remained the same, excellent. The staff are a credit to the hotel and it's brand.
