Location great. Hotel very dated, needs a good update as the rooms are old and stuck in the 90’s. Staff friendly and helpful.

Everything about the property was amazing.. the location, easy check in, spotlessly clean, comfy bed and the bedding smelt amazing! I stay in Porthcawl a lot having been brought up in the town and always lovely to come ‘home’ and this definitely felt like home to me. Probably my favourite place I’ve stayed in Porthcawl.

OH is just beautiful, friendly, warm, cosy with a gorgeous lived in and cared for feeling. Lots and lots to look at and admire. Furniture and artwork is beautiful. Quiet? Oh my word we were not expecting how quiet it actually was. Being near the Esplanade on a Friday night we thought we would hear plenty, but no, silence. And the bed, may word dont get me started on the bed. So so comfortable

John Street is a charming traditional "High Street" with a good mix of shops. Porthcawl has some good pubs and restaurants and nice walks on the promenade. Great beaches too but it's the Bristol Channel so chilly most of the year...

Porthcawl is a traditional seaside town.
Porthcawl is a traditional seaside town. Full of friendly locals. Lovely pubs and cafes and the best ice cream ever from Sidoli's. Our favourite pubs for great food is the Salt Water Inn and the Globe. The Boat House is our favourite fish and chip shop. Always a queue as the fish is cooked to order. Worth the wait as it's delicious. Beautiful sandy beaches great for sandcastles. Donkey rides in the summer at Coney beach right next to the Funfair. At Rest Bay there is a surf school and a lovely restaurant with fantastic views. Also there is a great board walk with the beach on one side and a golf course on the other which then leads onto the coastal path. Porthcawl is a great base for visiting Cardiff Swansea and many other great places. Every week through the summer one of the local pubs puts on a great and free firework display down on the beach.

Not being able to walk very far.
Not being able to walk very far. We were able to enjoy the walk along the prom to the harbour. And there was a land train that you could take to go further afield. There were lots of cafes and restaurants.

Beautiful place with a lovely walk along seafront from Trecco Bay to harbour. Plenty of restaurants and shops a short walk down side streets from seafront. A lot of money spent and continuing investment in keeping Porthcawl modern. Aldi store being built near seafront. Plenty of activities for children including a funfair. First class fish and chips at Finnegans and Beales. Rest Bay car park with sea views and a new Watersports centre. Relaxing cuppa at Seabank hotel.
The bed in the King's Room was very comfortable and the residents lounge was most welcoming particularly with the complimentary wine. The bathroom in the King's Room was good and the shower worked well. My sister was in the French Room and they loved it. We thought that it was very nice too. So if you have a choice between the King's and the French Room we would recommend the French room. Annette was a very engaging host and I could not fault her hospitality. The location is excellent with easy access to the town
Our best B&B experience in the UK by far!
The rooms had everything we could have wanted, and more. Plenty of thoughtful (and tasty!) complimentary treats, very comfortable bed, ample parking, and excellent location.
The interior is a must-see in itself, every time my partner and I looked around we would spot something unique.
A huge thank you to the host Anette for this wonderful experience, we hope to return and will recommend to everyone visiting South Wales in the future.
I was visiting Porthcawl for the first time with a friend who grew up there. Location was perfect for us in terms of walking access to the town. Parking for one car meant we could use the property as a base from which to tour the local area. Property had most facilities we needed for a short stay. Really nice shower. Convenience shop opposite meant we could pop out for basics if needed. Flagged a few practical issues to which the owner responded positively.
Lovely pleasant stay, check-in easy, room lovely and clean. Dinner was small portions, but is 3 course so it was more than enough, choices of food incl vegetarian / vegan. Lovely location overlooking the sea.. This is not a new hotel, but if you want something clean, cheap and cheerful with a lovely location this is it. We would definitely stay there again.
Excellent location, not too close to main hub but within easy walking distance of facilities, beach and Porthcawl town.
Was clean with plenty of space in lounge area. Has everything you need for a self catering holiday. (No toilet roll but shop close by so not a major issue for us)
Everyone had a lovely time despite storm ciaran's best efforts.
We simply loved this property all around. Everything from the location, to the cleanliness, the amenities, and the comfort. The value we received was amazing. We had a great week visiting family nearby and visiting the beach in Porthcawl. We really loved it. This 4 bedroom home can sleep 8 and we were spoiled as a family of 4.
Great stay at 19 Mary Street as always. Lovely room, spotlessly clean, great shower, very comfy bed, lovely decor, quiet, easy check in/out, location is great, communications with host Alice is excellent. All in all a brilliant hotel to stay in in Porthcawl. Would thoroughly recommend!
We loved the character and charm of this place and all of the quirky and fun decor. The location is great with easy access to town, Trecco Bay and the beach. The owner is a lovely gentleman who always went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable.
It’s very close to Rest Bay and the esplanade with shops and restaurants. My bag was stolen from the beach when I was swimming and the hotel key was in it. I texted and had a new key at the building within 20 minutes. Just amazing and I was so thankful.
Loved the location. Central for everything and a short walk to beach. Porthcawl is a lovely place to explore.
No noise from street etc. Great nights sleep in comfy bed. Staff very helpful and pleasant. Continental breakfast suited me fine.
The location, easy transaction, clear instructions to check in and out, facilities as promised. We love Porthcawl and Mary Street is a few paces from the beaches and town centre with all its cafes, restaurants, take-aways and shops.
Lovely pub with very pretty surroundings.Staff were polite& friendly! Food was great!!!
Room was basic and needed refurbishing tbh? But we would definetely stay again in this little south wales gem!
We had a wonderful time. Very well looked after by Jane and Jonathan. Will recommend Newton Cottages to friends who wish to stay in that area of South Wales.
