The Dowans Hotel of Speyside, hotel in Rothes

Set high above the village of Charlestown of Aberlour and overlooking the River Spey, this elegant country hotel is an ideal venue for shooting and fishing, and for whisky-lovers.

The owners take great pride in the Hotel and their offerings and rightly so. Lauren was incredible as a host and her knowledge of whiskey - we have a couple of new favourites thanks to her.

    Ok for a walking base.

Ok for a walking base. No eating facilities in village due to COVID restrictions. Very busy thoroughfare for distilleries so no good for peace and quiet. Free parking good. With COVID everything closed even whisky bars in the pubs.

Central so easy to get to all the big whisky distilleries...

Central so easy to get to all the big whisky distilleries but only 15 minutes from Moray Firth coast as well. Quite a few hotels and a chippy so easy to eat out and small supermarket and tourist info place. Nice walking around the village. Everyone friendly.
