Just an amazing, wonderful city.
Just an amazing, wonderful city. So many fascinating places including the white synagogue, El Greco museum, Cathedral and the general ambiance of the old city. We loved the tourist train that went around the city. It's a short (30 min) train ride from Madrid; book this in advance, they fill up, that's why we had to take the less desirable bus. Very walkable but realize it's all up and down, might be difficult for some people. Definitely stay overnight; tourists go home at night and you have the city to yourself. We ate at more or less randomly chosen little places that were uniformly good.

The old city of Toledo looks magnificent from the parador or from across the valley. There is an attractive river walk outside the city wall with historic bridges which lead up to the city. There are many cobbled streets to wander around but we couldn’t find a quiet traffic free square to enjoy a coffee and people watch. The old city was interesting to explore with so much of the old walls still intact. You can see the sites in one day. We caught the fast train from Toledo to Madrid (just over 30 minutes) on the other 2 days of our stay

Beautiful storybook-like old town. Great food everywhere. Our faves were the churros and carcamusas. If walking is not for you, there's a cute train that you can ride to see the highlights without having to walk up and down the cobbled streets.

This is a small, charming, family run hotel fairly close to the main attractions in Toledo. The room was lovely. The patio just outside my room had an amazing view of the town. The more or less continental style breakfast was perfect - served in the little cave-like basement. The staff members I met (Karima (?) in the breakfast room, and one of the owners) were kind and so helpful. I can't say enough in praise of this charming little hotel.

Since Toledo is all uphill there’s an escalator(see pic attached) which can be easily missed as it is situated within a public car park. A Taxi to the Cathedral was about 10 Euro. We decided to walk back over the pedestrian roman bridge. That took us 25 min. from the bridge to the hotel.
