This accomodation was the perfect home base to walk the Nakasendo. The accomodation was very nice and beautifully furnished. We had a lot of space for our luggage and also a parking lot in front of the house is provided. The communication with the host and all the organisation worked perfectly. Arigato gozaimasu for a wonderful stay! (:

The hotel is a long way from anywhere, which is probably its attraction for most visitors.
The shuttle service worked well though to reiterate its a long drive from Tsumago. Having a car would make it a little easier, but once you are there youre probably not going to leave anyway.
We took food from Nagiso, as there is nothing to eat there. There are no food options in Tsumago or near the hotel (closest is around 2km away - a soba shop)
There are vending machines for beers, and drinks and you can buy instant noodles.
The room was fine, nothing special.
However the Onsen in the main hotel was excellent, with a sauna, plunge pool, and outside baths.

This was a lovely Japanese style house. We loved staying here. The birds in the backyard were so nice to listen to and spot. The record selection was really interesting and enjoyable. Takashi was a wonderful host.

It was lovely to soak in the onsen after hiking. I appreciated the extensive hair and body lotions that were provided. The facilities were very good. Staff did their best to understand our requests. The google translation certainly helped.

Small onsen on the first floor which is empty in the later hours, really good and various breakfast options, USB Ports at the bed. FamilyMart, KFC, McDonalds and a big grocery store are in walkable distance. You get a free drink, which is a very friendly gesture.
Visited three areas this time: Narai-juku/ Tsumago-juku/...
Visited three areas this time: Narai-juku/ Tsumago-juku/ Magome-juku: all are very nicely reserved areas and the hotel is located close except for Narai-juku (70km away). Had a 100% Soba twice at lunch nearby : both are very good. Dropped in several Michi-no-Eki and bought local foods and items at half of them.
