“Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside”. The Corniche is a horseshoe-shaped bay that overlooks the Persian Gulf. The Museum of Islamic Art juts into the bay – four floors of stunning artistry, with the building to match. Grab dinner at the Orient Pearl before an evening stroll on the promenade, where the city lights form a romantic backdrop.

West Bay
5 miles from city centre
West Bay’s all about the high life – and not just because of its many skyscrapers. This is where high fliers splash their considerable “riyals”, in five-star hotels and luxury shops. Break the bank with dinner at Market Restaurant or New York Steakhouse. Cap off the day in style with a front-row seat at Katara Cultural Village’s theatres.

The Pearl
5.8 miles from city centre
Pearls – shiny and expensive caprices. Much like this Doha district. This artificial peninsula is made from earth from the seabed, pumped up and poured into a neat series of bays. The result is Doha’s most exclusive address, where swanky villas come with jetties for million-dollar yachts. Tap into the life of Reilly with a sushi feast at Midori.

Doha's transformation into a premier Gulf city has seen many ages, from its legacy as a pearling and fishing village at the beginning of the 20th century to the ultra-modern business hub it is today. The rapidly developing city showcases a skyline of futuristic high-rises lined up against the coast of the Persian Gulf, best admired through a traditional ‘dhow’ cruise or a walk along the Doha Corniche.
Adventure sports in Doha are all about its sand, sky and sea. The dramatic terrain of Doha’s deserts makes it an ideal destination for dune bashing and quad biking. You can enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the city from a relaxed hot-air balloon ride or by freefalling from a plane with your skydiving instructor. To experience the beauty of Qatar’s shoreline and clear waters, you can give water sports such as surfing, kayaking and scuba diving a go.
The capital city of Qatar welcomes all types of travellers and shoppers. You can take a stroll along the winding lanes and mud-daubed structures of the Souq Waqif, a marketplace that sells handicrafts, spices and souvenirs. Steering away from the traditional market, you can explore high-street and luxury brands at plush arcades such as the Villaggio, Mall of Qatar and Lagoona Mall.

I mostly eat fish meals.
5 May 2024
I mostly eat fish meals. I have been into few different restaurants , I liked them all. I enjoyed the shoping malls. Very clean with fair prices . Easy to go around with recent under grounds trains. Very comfortable and very cheap. You do not need to hire a car to move around. Not to use taxi unless it urgent because trains are more worthy to use.
Easy to get around via metro and Uber is cheap.

Easy to get around via metro and Uber is cheap. Food can be a bit expensive. Many tourist places to visit, would definitely recommend during the night it is more beautiful as during the day it is very hot. Very clean and calm city, would definitely visit again. For shopping I think it is more expensive than Dubai.

We only had 1 day in Doha, however wished we had more time. We went to the local markets which were fantastic! Our tour driver took us wherever needed and was extremely friendly and helpful. Doha is a great place to visit for cultural and compared to Aus $$$ it is reasonably cheap.

The metros worked brilliantly and were so inexpensive.

The metros worked brilliantly and were so inexpensive. We also found that we could walk to most places and that the times given on Google Maps overestimated the length of time it took to get places. We loved eating dinner at the Souq Waqif and exploring the sites. We found we didn't need a guide for seeing the city sites and enjoyed riding the metro to see them.
