We were in the area for a special occasion and were struggling to find an affordable place to stay. Luckily, we saw an ad for Shaker Village and booked three nights. We had a peaceful stay on a beautiful piece of land. Our kids (4 and 2) loved visiting the animals and exploring the property.

The dining room is delicious. The lack of lights in the property staying true to the original village so you can see the night sky.

We would like to come back to explore the property. The weather did not permit us to make use of the extensive trails. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The bath supplies and coffee were great! I also enjoyed reading a bit about the history of the village from the book that was provided in the room.

The tour guide was knowledgable and enthusiastic. The food in the restauarant was excellent with a good choice for both breakfast and dinner.

The room and West Village Family building are stunningly maintained in reasonable historic manner. It really is a destination for history lovers. Superior optional breakfast in yet another restored building. The walking of the village at dusk, the outside fire pits, the dawn light are all worth the journey.

My teenage son and I were in the area for college visits, and he was skeptical at first. But after an evening watching baby lambs scamper followed by a delicious dinner, he was sold. The Shakers were right — tis a gift to be simple.
