For added privacy, the accommodation features a private entrance. We have been travelling in Iceland for 3 weeks and have stayed in some outstanding (plus a couple of not quite outstanding) accommodations. The Lake House is by far our favourite. The view from the conservatory and the deck were exceptional. We decided to take a ‘rest day’ here to just enjoy the view, the peace and the hot pot. It was great having access to coffee, herbs and spices left by the owners to use in our meal prep. Access was very easy with the lockbox. The heating was already on for us which was greatly appreciated. Btw I loved the swans in the pond. 😂

I like the concept of integrating a community with travellers from around the world. Here I was able to get a glimpse of what genuine Iceland is like in remote fishing villages. There was several cinema nights in the theatre where all the locals would come to watch films developed by local film makers. First night was about the local football team and the second a fishing film about a man and his boat. Both films highlighted the importance of having a connection with your community and it was a great experience to watch these local films.
Apartment No. 6 (top floor) – very well equipped, clean, bright, spacious, a great view (especially at sunset), a little balcony, a decent fridge with small freezer compartment – excellent, though I did need to clean the windows. A very helpful information sheet. Looks to be an attractive large village / small town.
The hotel rooms are like mini villas, very spacious and comfy. It's owned by a family who are very lovely
Nice little village. It is very new and comfortable. It still had a new smell. It had a big kitchen to share and a comfortable sofa. The room was large and the bathroom was also an acceptable size.
The hotel is wonderful on this nature paradise island. You won’t have city amenities but the rooms are light and airy and the location is the big seller here, as you’re surrounded by fearless birds and country living Icelanders. A real retreat. The meals produced by the chef would not be out of place in a top notch city centre high class restaurant
Very remote location, the next village is a few kilometres away. we had our own little cottage making this a wonderful experience. Marteinn was very nice and helpful borrowing us some butter when we forgot it at our shopping tour. Breakfast is very good and the view you’ll have while enjoying it is breathtaking. very hard to find anything with a better value for money.
Great location for exploring the peninsula. Saw the northern lights on both nights from right outside the accommodation. Had a brilliant view of the arrow head mountain from our bedroom window. The staff were very friendly. Easily driveable to nearby villages for amazing dinners.
Excellent location. Easy to find. Plenty of parking. Easy to self check in. Well thought out accommodation with excellent facilities for guests. Extremely comfortable. Plenty of space. Beds were extremely comfortable. My son slept in a bunk and us in a double. We all slept well. Stykkisholmur itself is a fascinating village on so many levels.
