Absolutely nothing to recommend this place. Did not fulfil the advertised offering- tv did not work at all during our 14 day "stay" despite the owner/manager admitting that he needed to replace 3 tv's at the rooms. The shower had to be turned off after approx. 60 seconds as the drain was blocked and led to overflowing. The shower water was either very hot or cold intermittently- these 2 issues were partially addressed during the second week. The bed sheets were only changed once and then only on request- pillow cases were not changed even once! The bedroom waste bin was emptied only on request and the bathroom bin was not emptied at all! The room was not cleaned at all and replenishment of the tea/coffee/sugar/milk etc. sachets had to be requested. Nothing was pro-active- if you didn't ask you didn't get. The manager/owner was not present during the last 4 days (apart from briefly at our final "breakfast") of our stay after we had asked for some form of compensation for our miserable stay. The breakfast is not exactly full English/Irish but included TURKEY rashers with a choice of a chicken or beef sausages.
The whole experience was fantastic, we don't often go away, so we really enjoyed ourselves. Normally we are on a budget, but we spent alot as it was our anniversary. However you can spend less if you are sensible. Wifi was patchy in certain areas as was the tv signal, but it didn't spoil our stay as it wasn't important to us. And there was a mix up with booking the room we requested, so if you prefer call to confirm your request ahead of your stay. But again the room we were given was lovely anyway.
Friendly staff the food was exceptional!! We stayed in room 12 a little annex out the back which was just perfect for me the hubby & the dog!! The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was plenty big enough!! It’s very central for travelling for days out ...West Bay ...Lyme Regis..Clarke’s village..Air fleet museum Weymouth just to name a few!! Well worth a stay !!
small village with a signed walk through buildings of different eras. The walnut tree is a family run pub with a caribean twist. All the family get involved with the running. Lovely people lovely place
Tiny ancient town that has 3 pubs, an Italian restaurant, a Chinese take away plus one lovely gift and flower shop. It is convenient to visit some wonderful National Trust gardens and properties. I ate at the Bull but can't recommend it, The Ilchester Arms owned by the same family is the better bet.
People are geeedy, selfish, unreasonable and no chance of being helped by anyone from that area when you are scared and alone. They will rob you just like booking.com does. Make sure you pay with paypal or credit card and don't listen when they tell you non refundable
