The views from the hotel are unbelievable! I had many plans in Haputale, but I ended up spending most of my time enjoying the view from my bed or balcony. You can watch the sunrise over the mountains and tea fields right from bed. It is probably the best view I ever had from a hotel. I would love to come back just to take it all in. The location is also convenient to get to many different tea farms and Lipton’s Seat, if you do decide to leave your hotel room. Haputale is much less touristy than Ella, but you can still find lots to do. Other reviews mentioned no hot water, but this was not an issue for me. There is a switch outside the bathroom to turn on the water heater. After a few minutes waiting for the water to heat up, I had a nice hot 20 minute shower and never had any issues. The staff are very kind and willing to offer advice and help with booking tuk tuks, etc. Meals were simple but good and affordable. I also recommend walking down through the tea fields to the Olive Tea Center for tasty ice cream and other baked goodies. Really good and very affordable!

If you travel to Sri Lanka, it would be a huge loss not to spend at least a night in Haputale, at this guesthouse. This was one of the best places we have ever stayed at in our many years of traveling. The host, Saman, and his family, truly made us feel part of their family. We only stayed 2 nights, but it felt like we were staying at an old friend’s family house. They have a wonderful house overlooking the hills. The rooms are wonderful: clean, spacious, with a balcony and with some of the best views we have seen. The location is simply wonderful, in the middle of hills covered with tea plantations. The host showed us a short hike right behind the house through tea plantations, with views of forests, hills, and lakes. The guest house is perfectly located as a starting point for many of the nature attractions in the area. Saman is such an amazing host, and he will go out of his way to help you plan your stay and organize trips around to Lipton’s Seat, Horton Plains, waterfalls, or anywhere else. Our stay in Haputale was definitely a highlight of a trip, and we definitely recommend it if you’re looking to stay in a wonderful location that is a lot less touristy than Ella. This guesthouse is a place where you will feel like home, you will be surrounded by some of the best views, and where the hosts will go out of their way to help you. The breakfasts were delicious and very filling, and so were the dinners, homecooked by Saman’s family. We also highly recommend taking a cooking class at the homestay with Saman’s family. This was definitely one of our highlights, as we got to know the family, learn more about Sri Lankan cooking while preparing 5 different curries, and finally enjoy a dinner with our hosts after many hours of cooking and laughter with the family. The entire experience is worth more than what you pay for, and the family will really make your stay unforgettable. Book your stay here, you will not regret it.

Our stay at Rosenkas was on of our best of the whole Sri Lanka trip. Very, very friendly owners who did everything to make our stay as pleasent as possible. We had an amazing cooking class with them and they served us a delicous Sri Lankan breakfast the next day. It was even possible to wash our clothes in their laundry machine. The rooms are very nice, the view is breathtaking, the whole experience was just perfect! Thank you very much again!

Nice, spacious and clean rooms with a very nice view and great balcony (we spent so much time there). Hot water was a plus too. The owners were really helpful, they gave us some advice and helped us with whatever we needed. We recommend the laundry service as well. Location is quite good, 15 min walk from the Haputale however there is not much to do in the city, and there is a good restaurant nearby. Good location to visit Lipton’s Seat, Horton’s Plains and Diyaluma Waterfall:)

Everything was perfect. I had dinner and breakfast here and the food was the best I’ve had in Sri Lanka. You wake up literally above the clouds it’s amazing. The room was clean and comfortable. The shower of dreams!! I had a tour with Shirodh which was so worth it. He took me up liptons seat and then to the diyaluma waterfalls and it was the best day. The family are so accommodating and help you figure out your next travels. Shirodh took me to Ella and help me plan my route to Kandy which was so kind of him. There is an eco lodge too which look really cool - next time I want to stay there! Do not miss White Monkey at Haputale!!!

I had the cheapest room which was clean and small but cozy and had a private bathroom. There is a variety of rooms, some even with private furnished balconies with an excellent view. There's a restaurant downstairs, and oh yeah, the lady can cook. Excellent food. Cold beers available too

The room was spacious with a fab powerful hot shower and the bed was king size with lovely white linen. We had a big balcony and we could look over the tea plantations and gardens below us far out to the distant hills and mountains. We had a fantastic meal - curry and rice with lots of beautifully cooked vegetable dishes, it was one of the best curries we have ever had. The owner and his wife were helpful and charming.

When we were leaving very early in the morning, they left us bananas and fresh fruit juice. We also could leave our bag packs until we come back from Horton plains even if it was after the checkout time. Room was clean and the view absolutely spectacular. There is WiFi, sometimes works faster sometimes slower, ask the owners for more info. Very good location near the city centre.
