The hotel receptionist was friendly and warm upon arrival and explained everything regarding procedures during these covid times. The room was very cold when we arrived and although we put the thermostat to the highest setting it was still cold. We called down to the front desk and she made sure we had turned the heating up correctly by going over the control switch symbols on the phone. When we explained that we had done everything but still felt cold she gladly offered to give us an electric heater and someone came along with it for us within minutes! Once we had that plugged in the room became as warm as toast and we were able to settle and relax comfortably!!!
A dive, not safe for young women in most areas. Rough and ready. I am used to long distance driving due to my job and always take care. Its a poor area and filthy. I wouldn't feel comfortable going out alone, neither would I want to shop there. I was just strictly there for business and just stayed in my hotel after a long days work.
Croydon is a very nice modern place with loads of shopping and restaurants available. It is a nice commercial place with hustle and bustle if city life all around. Short distance away from major tourist attractions in Central London.
I don’t really like Croydon but I had an appointment so had to come back as we have moved out of the area as we didn’t feel safe in Croydon anymore and no decent shops anymore just high rise buildings going up all over the place.
I would never recommend Croydon to visit for leisure. Only go if you have work, family or it logistically works for you. For us it was cheap, and has great transport links. It is much cheaper than staying in Gatwick or other areas. I can’t think of a good reason to choose to stay there otherwise. It was so urban, unattractive, busy and lacked any charm. The people all seemed pleasant enough, it didn’t feel dodgy to me which I know some people think it is.
We were there Overnight to cover 2x Days Work - You only have to Drive around Croydon to realise that serious re-generation is required - Traffic is horrendous and getting across Town is a Nightmare
