We visited the Café Cascais in Capelas where the owner was extremely hospitable. Had a lovely evening at this fun restaurant with Manuel on keyboard singing (and us joining in). Good food, drinks and very nice people. Good location for visiting other parts of the island. As the island is small, it was easy to visit numerous beautiful sites such as Sete Cicades and return to the hotel in the evening. Relaxed, tranquil environment with beautiful scenery. shout out to a local hairdresser 5 minutes from hotel (don't know her name) who took care of me without any notice. Front desk recommended her. I was very satisfied.

We love Capelas.
We love Capelas. It's a little off the beaten path - more locals than some of the cities on the South Coast of the island. Since the island is relatively small - you can be just about anywhere in 30 - 45 minutes. Capelas is on the sea; driving 25 minutes we were hiking around Sete Cidades. Capelas might not be for you if you are looking for a mall, lots of shopping or lots of restaurant choices within walking distance. We mainly purchased groceries at the Continente supermarket - sort of a USA Target type store.
