We love everything about Penthouse Marina Sol. Not only does it have absolutely everything you need, and is very clean and comfortable, the outside space is amazing - 360 degree views!. For awareness, there are 56 steps and no lift. It's all good for the step count but should you have any mobility issues it's something to consider.

Basically every aspect of the accommodation is thoroughly refined. The host, Sérgio, meets you personally, gives some useful tips and how-to's on Madeira. We were welcomed with the local surprising iteration of banana. Sérgio speaks very good English and seems highly motivated to help his guests.
Moreover, there are a lot of utilities in the apartment, which make life much more enjoyable. I never tried sticks for walking, but, as Sérgio gave the opportunity, I was shocked how easier the hikes are.
The apartment feels absolutely new, the kitchen has all you could wish for, the bathroom is gigantic. 10/10

we had a lovely spacious room overlooking the harbour, which had kitchen facilities that we were not expecting. Nice comfortable beds and lovely white linen. The pool area is great with plenty of sunbeds for all guests. The dining area had plenty of choice but it was pretty average food. Staff were all friendly and helpful. It is situated on probably the only sandy beach on the island, plus there are several cafes and restaurants you could walk to on the harbour if you wanted a change from the hotel.

Madalena do Mar is an interesting place to visit and for those who would like to see special places in Madeira that are only accessible by car, I would advise you to rent a small car, considering the narrow road where many cars are parked in front of their houses.

This beautiful, old property, is renovated with wonderful details, such as hand embroidered curtains and exquisite bed linens. A great surprise was the really well stocked kitchen. Everything was there to delight a gourmet cook.
Peace, harmony, beauty, lots of space, cozyness and the wonders of nature…all of this, and more, wrapped up together …this is Casa da Madalena do Mar. The beautifully restored country house exudes a wonderful feeling of warmth and relaxation. The hosts of this wonderful property are most gracious and hospitable. An extremely fine feeling for details can be felt in every room.
There are banana trees in the back of the house, majestic mountains, as well as an adjacent chicken coup with the prettiest Lady Chickens (i.e. fresh eggs every day)! A lovely Madeiran “Pleasure Tower” and an adjacent sun terrace overlook the sea. If this is not enough, there is even a hammock to relax in. Everything is immaculately clean.
By car it is only a very short drive to the neighboring villages. And the island is sooo beautiful! We loved our stay so much, that we have decided to return again next year to this amazing country house.
