Lucky Bay has the perfect location between the beach and the main road. It’s between the center and the north end of Arugam Bay which makes everything very accessible while it’s still quiet at night. The “room” itself is one of just five cabins which on the one hand makes it easy to get in touch with the other guests. On the other hand there are so many plants around the covered terrace that you can always choose having privacy. Next door, there’s a surfer hostel, so it’s also easy to get in touch with other surfers. Just ask Lucky Bay’s host Mohammed to arrange some surf lessons there as well and you might get a discount. Speaking of Mohammed: He’s the best. If there are any worries or you want to have something organized, Mohammed will know what to do. He’s super nice and makes sure you have a good time. For us, he organized surf lessons (best teachers in town btw) and got us a taxi to escape the rain and travel to Trincomalee which was way cheaper than street prices and also cheaper than the PickMe app. Compared to other accommodations where people take commissions, you can ask Mohammed for anything and know that he has only your well-being and that you have a good time during your stay in mind.

Truly a wonderful place and a gem in Arugam bay! Surf & Sand felt like a home away from home for us. The room was spacious and clean, AC working well, quiet at night and the best thing was the cooking- we got a different breakfast set every day and we ordered dinner several times as well as it was delicious - best (and by far the biggest!) plate of Kottu we had in Sri Lanka. The host family helped us with everything we needed like taxi service for a great price. The location is perfect, a walking distance to the beach, restaurants cafes and shops. Thanks for everything, we had a blast and would come back in the blink of an eye!

Very nice courtyard with many plants and cool bungalows. The staff and the owner Sulfi were very friendly and cared to make most out of our stay. For example, the surf board rental was easy going, I could take any board the whole day. Sulfi also offers surf lessons, if wanted, but there was no pressure to do so. The room and bathroom were clean. The location is very close to the beach and we appreciated to be a bit away from the busy center/beach. Make sure you check out Tuna restaurant just across the main road to get one of the best banana-coconut roti.
