This hotel is within easy walking distance of the historic Salem port, and of restaurants in this historic district. Our room was large, with two huge beds {one king-sized bed might have been preferable}.

The amount of thought that had gone into everything, having wireless chargers on both bed side tables, a white noise machine and a specific wash cloth for makeup and robes. Everything was thought about. The room was incredibly clean and looked like the pictures

I loved this hotel and will definitely be back again. The location was brilliant, I walked everywhere for my entire trip! The breakfast was simple but exactly what you would want and need every day. There was plenty to eat and they were so kind every morning before they closed, encouraging us to take what we needed before they closed! The rooms were enormous, lovely big TV. Really friendly staff. It was absolutely great and I felt very lucky to have found it! Also you could help yourself to complimentary hot drinks by the front desk when you came in and out every day. Small touches like that just made a huge difference to how homely it was. Also, half way through I decided to extend my trip, and they allowed me to keep the same room to make the extension as convenient as possible.

The staff at The Hotel Salem were exceptional. They were super friendly and accommodating and nothing was a problem to them. I unfortunately did not get everyone’s names but Zachary and Ashley were superb as well as other reception desk staff. Zachary offered us an umbrella for our walking tour and we were glad he did with the weather that came later. We also ate at the restaurant one evening and their burgers are amazing as were the restaurant staff for accommodating us so close to 9pm. I have worked in a hospitality background in the past and appreciated the effort made by all staff as it makes a big difference. The room was comfortable and spacious and when the hairdryer did not work, it was replaced straight away. They also provide filtered water on each floor. The location is perfect as well. I would without a doubt stay at this hotel again if I ever return to Salem.

Such an interesting historical gem of a city.
Such an interesting historical gem of a city. Lots to explore, contemplate and take in. You absorb the witchy vibe in a cool way, but then keep exploring the museums, waterfront, parks and fantastic shops and restaurants. Like a mini-Boston, but more focused.

Anybody that is in to the type of stuff in Salem would love it. Could spend a week there just looking at all the shops. Then you have the tours and self guided paths, you really just have to research what you are into.

Salem is a fun place to visit.
Salem is a fun place to visit. Lots of attractions and activities to keep you busy. Food was great and many places to choose from. We liked Reds, Dire Wolf Tavern and Carmel Patisserie.
I would highly recommend any time of year because of the variety of attractions and places to visit. The Witch Dungeon Museum and the Witch House were among my favorites to visit.
Awesome place for a girls get away. We were able to walk everywhere and see what we wanted. The boutiques and shopping were awesome.
We also did a Psychic Reading and a Witches Circle and Witch City Walking tour. We loved all of them. I would definitely come back and do them again.

The history of Salem is just so..
The history of Salem is just so.. Interesting, colorful, fasinating, rewarding and a little sad. What human beings can doing to each other is unbelievable in both evil and good ways.
We stayed at the Salem INN and loved it. Ate at Turners, Rockafellas and some other places that slip my mind. These two were great.
Used the trolly and walked alot.

The museums moved along quickly and provided a hood...
The museums moved along quickly and provided a hood educational background of the Salem Witch trials. I purchased a multi pass ahead of time, which I usually do to offset expenses/time when vacationing. Suggest you book ahead the tour of The House of Seven Gables. There were plenty of good restaurants to choose from and all staff at each eatery were more than pleasant and excellent wait staff. I would not recommend for families with children younger than 10/12, and unfortunately the museums are not intended for those with physical handicaps (steep wooden staircases which lend to historical preservation).
The Coach House is slightly removed from downtown Salem. The posh amenities and decor were fabulous, and certainly made up for two minute drive to downtown Salem/museum area or to wharf for delicious dinner. The communication between concierge & myself regarding access were timely and seem less. There were an abundance of towels and my “tween” niece felt like a Princess between decor & luxe linens etc. I hard ordered the t-shirt as a little bonus “birthday” gift for my young niece.
The hotel is adjacent to the downtown of Salem, meaning all of the historic places one might want to visit are located in walking distance. This is really great since you park your car in the hotel's parking garage and do not need to use it for your exploration of Salem. The hotel is really clean and the breakfast is awesome (much better than the standard breakfast at US based hotels!). For solo travelers who want to explore the town this hotel is perfect!
The hotel was very cool, although it would have been nice to see a little spookiness. The rooms were huge! The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The shower was a dream and they had great body products including conditioner, which no one seems to carry any more, but they do. Bergamot even ..wish I could buy some.
I like that they had purified water stations on each floor, but non of the sparkling water buttons worked.
The history of the house is just amazing, and the room we had (Marion room) was gorgeous. The host was a really interesting guy and we had a great chat with him. The bnb is in a great location for the heart of Salem village too, close to the wharf and maritime history part while still being close to the shops and restaurants.
There was a moment when I was able to see into the room with the hotel staff and on the wall there was a trans pride flag. It was so nice to see that even in a place where it is not out to get attention, that they still hung it up.
It felt genuine and I appreciate it so much!
My absolute favorite was the ease of everything.. Parking was easy, to get in and out of my room at anytime was easy, staff was available for any concerns or questions..I loved how quiet my room was considering the hotel is in the middle of everything..
Fantastic location in the heart of Salem. The property is full of history and we recommend a walking tour to find out more. The staff were amazing and the complementary breakfast was a lovely treat and even the double room was huge.
Despite the room being small it was cosy and the atmosphere in the hotel was fantastic. The staff were friendly and competent and the food was tasty and well prepared. Would stay here again.
Great location in the heart of Salem (across the street from the Common and the Hawthorne Hotel event space).
The owners were friendly.
The historic space is beautifully cared for.
I loved how central The Merchant is located from everything in Salem.
I absolutely loved the aesthetic of the hotel and the breakfast scones! This place was cozy and fun.
Room was very spacious! The staff were so lovely and helpful throughout the entire stay. The location is completely central and so perfect for all of Salem’s attractions
The hotel is wonderful and the location in Salem can not be beat. All of the main attractions are within walking distance. The town square is next door.
