“If you are inclined to want to digress from the larger, more commercial hotels and are seeking a refuge from the chaos of busy tourist traps, Hotel Son Tretze could not be more perfect. The property itself is beautiful in its simplistic and farmhouse style. It’s uncomplicated but at the same time, feels decadent. The rooms are large and airy, spotlessly clean and authentically Spanish in style. With only a few rooms and an adult only clientele, do not expect a buzzing bar, entertainment or snack machines; instead relish the peace and the warm hospitality that can only come from such a small hotel. We only ever encountered three employees/ owners during our stay and all were kind, warm and welcoming. A particular mention must go to Julia, the shy lady who served us breakfast daily with the warmest of smiles and even though she didn’t speak much English, she always took the time to chat to us. On arrival we were given a thorough talk of the ins and outs of the hotel and an information book about Menorca. The warmth and personal welcome we received was beyond our expectations, even from a small property. Sant Luiz itself is one of those rare places that retains its identity and appeals to all nationalities. There are around 8 tapas bars/restaurants, all offering great food. We were surprised at how alive the Main Street becomes at night with families and couples enjoying relaxing, drawn out meals. We attended a street market, a ‘ White Party’ and also noticed a dance held for the older citizens. On nights we wanted a little more action, we visited Mahón by catching a bus ( ten minutes ). We hired a bike and spent our days exploring the island knowing we would be returning to the comfort and peace of Son Tretze. Overall, a perfect holiday.”

“The hostel was available for an extremely competitive price compared to the rest of Menorca, which could be due to its location. It is in one of the island's smaller towns, which many may view as a negative, but Sant Luis really was very charming, and not far at all from Mahon amongst other sights/places. The rooftop was extremely comfortable to relax on as well. The staff was perfectly friendly, and despite the lack of amenities or a better sleeping arrangement, everything was very clean.”
