“A wonderful gem towards the end of our pilgrimage on St. Cuthbert’s Way. This property is a former hostel, nestled behind another inn, and along the walkway to Milan, a wonderful Italian Restaurant. The staff (of both Noble Lands and Milan, where you pick up keys) are wonderful; they even found our daughter’s missing baby doll and are returning her. The room we booked (the Duke) is a large room, newly refurbished, with a fancy walk-in shower.”

The Black Bull Hotel is a 17th Century Inn standing in the main street of Wooler. It still retains much of its original character and is situated in one of the most picturesque parts of Northumberland....
“OMG what's not to like. Location , perfect. Comfort and cleanliness, perfect. Bar and great menu in bar. High end Italian restaurant out back. And the breakfast was full English plus more. Coffee, juices, yogurt toast, cereal for cold. For the hot meal, kippers, eggs, bacon, sausages, tomatoe, beans, mushroom and blood pudding if your into that. If you had to buy the breakfast alone anywhere it would cost you 1/3 of what it cost us to stay here and breakfast was included. I wish there were more places like this around for quality and cost. Oh and free parking.”

Firwood Country Bed and Breakfast is located just 1.7 miles from Wooler, in an elevated position with wonderful views over Glendale and Northumberland National Park.
“The hosts were extremely welcoming and went the extra mile (I hurt my toe and they couldn't have been more helpful). The welcome was outstanding, as was the location. Our room was delightful, with period furnishings and an en suite. The beds were comfortable and I slept extremely well. There was a TV and tea/coffee facilities. The cooked breakfast was delicious (I didn't eat again until the evening!) We will definitely go back!”

“From arrival to leaving we had a major problem. Why had we not booked for a longer stay! We were unsure of what we would find as we usually only book hotel rooms but as this location was perfect for our planned visit to Chillingham Castle, we thought that we would take a chance. Well this was a winner. We were met by Helen who turned out to be an excellent host. Very easy going and friendly she showed us to our beautiful room, (Plum Room) which had two corner windows with real and working shutters. The bed was super comfortable and the furniture matched and complimented the quality of the room. We were given advice on where to eat and we ended up at the Milan Italian Restaurant which was brilliant. Another great find! The bathroom is very modern and classy as is the guest lounge which was available. The door to the quiet garden with stone buddha in one corner was a lovely place to sit and take an evening drink which due to weather issues we were unable to do. Next time, hopefully. Breakfast was cooked to perfection and a great start to our day. All in all we were delighted to have stayed here and will most definitely be back. The location to Wooler High Street is great with only a one minute by car or about 6 minutes by walking up a slight hill. Ideally situated to visit Alnwick Castle, Chillingham Castle, Bamburgh Castle or Paxton House all within an easy drive. In my opinion though go to Chillingham, it is more period, greater atmosphere and a better cafe than the overpainted and gaudy Alnwick Castle. Helen and Geoff have made this "Oldest House in Wooler" into the "Nicest House in Woller" Do not hesitate to book we certainly will again.”
