“We shared a single room overlooking lake Shibayama for four adults. The Kaiseki dinner and buffet breakfast were excellent, especially considering the cost of the room + meals. The indoor onsen was excellent, overlooking the lake and was nice and hot. The outdoor onsen overlooking the lake as well was great during the colder March weather and extremely relaxing. I have been to Japan 5 times and frequent many Ryokans, and this was an exceptional experience if you wan't to deviate away from the tourist traps. Also for anyone who is wondering about access to the hotel, take the Hokuriku express to Kagaonsen station, from there you can call the ryokan and request a shuttle to pick you up from the station. They also do daily shuttles to Kagaonsen station up to ~10.30am. You can quite easily visit Kanazawa from Kasuikyo via the Hokuriku express which is less than 30 mins from Kagaonsen st. If you are outside the hours of shuttle operation, there is a bus that goes close and also taxis are plentiful but will set you back 2000 Yen.”
