“This is one of the best places I have ever stayed at. The owners were extremely friendly and nice. When they found out that we had not brought any food for dinner other than some snacks, they invited us to join in for dinner with them! The room was large and spacious, with a huge hot tub in the bathroom that could be filled with hot spring water. There was also a hot and cold water cooler in our room. While there are no eating places nearby, there are coffee/tea and even bread and some spreads in the fridge, all complimentary. The owners feed the strays in the area, so there were many cats running around the property, which was great for cat lovers like us. We even let one of a cat sleep in our room for a night. The cat really enjoyed the warmth of our electric heated bed! The place is around 30 mins drive away from the tourist attractions in Cingjing, and 1 hour away from Sun Moon Lake which is great if you seek to escape from the hordes of tourists in those areas.”

“I booked the superior double room, which was absolutely huge (can probably fit 4 queen-sized beds in the room!). Bed was clean and comfortable, air conditioning was adequate, all lighting was working, all windows come with mosquito netting, and there was a sofa bed included in the room so our 3-year-old could sleep comfortably on his own. There was even a Reverse-osmosis water dispenser inside the room so we could drink straight from the tap. Bathroom was clean; towels, shampoo and shower gel are provided. View from the balcony was nice. Breakfast was OK, not a huge range of selection but sufficient. I see many people commenting negatively about the wooden floors and the bad soundproofing. This is a wooden cottage-like hotel, not some posh concrete hotel with carpeted flooring, etc. so please be practical about your expectations. The owner was very professional and helpful, although not the chatty type. We wanted to go up to the mountain, but realised too late that the public buses were not running, so he helped me make many calls to bus companies, tour operators and even private charters, and finally helped me secure a private van which drove my family all the way to the mountaintop, and gave various advice and recommendations. And above all, the location is fantastic, only a few minutes' walk to the public bus stop, the Little Swiss Garden, and also the tourist centre, where you will find convenience stores with ATMs, Starbucks, fast food restaurants, etc.”
