This guesthouse is located along one of the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Routes and Yunomine Hot Spring, said to be one of the oldest hot springs baths in Japan, is a 5-minute walk from the property. Amazing spot! Staff is kind and welcoming! We loved the location in Yunomine Onsen, we enjoyed the private onsen experience and we loved the community environment at the hostel and meeting wonderful people each day with our bento box dinners. We were grateful for vegan dinner options!! We also enjoyed the delicious rice porridge in the morning. The kitchen is also wonderful and well stocked-we made our lunches there. The space itself is beautiful and the way they created the bunks in private cubes adds privacy. The futons are comfortable. We stayed 2 nights. It was a great place to stay along Kumano Kodo and we were able to take the bus to Koguchi to do more hiking one day. The bus stop is less than 5min walk! Would highly recommend.

This recently renovated guest house is located 29 km from Kamitonda Concert Hall and 31 km from Hosshinmon Oji Shrine. The guest house has a hot tub and a shared kitchen. Squeaky clean and homely at the same time. Delicious home cooked meals and an amazing host. Thank you Ike San!

It is located 700 metres from Kumano Hayatama Taisha and offers private check-in and check-out. The guest house features rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. what a great little place. If you have a small group, the 4 ppl room on the 3rd floor is perfect. The place has lots of great info in multiple languages and the affiliated izakaya was the perfect place to go for dinner.

I absolutely loved Surf Inn G-Sun the perfect end to a wonderful working holiday in Nippon :-) The owner was very helpful and we talked and laughed and was also driven to Wakayama castle for a half day trip before being personally dropped of at the train station

The guest house is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. Staying at Sangenya Guesthouse was one of our best experiences in Japan. The property itself is beautiful, clean and traditional. Of course, the town of Shirahama was also beautiful and having access to the beach within walking distance made it such a great location. We spent some wonderful days at the beach! Unfortunately, one of the days there was a typhoon - however our incredible hosts were so lovely and generous that it was actually a positive experience even when the weather outside was torrential. This trip marked the end of a year in Japan and even as we packed up our things to leave, we were talking about how we wanted to come back to the guesthouse in the future because the property and hosts were so wonderful. We also had some drinks at the property’s café, and both the hojicha and matcha were the best ones we’d tried in Japan!  We absolutely recommend the Sangenya Guesthouse!

The warehouse is a beautiful little apartment and we would have loved to stay even longer.

The owners were very kind and made us feel at home immediately. Giovannis passion about his guesthouse can be felt very easily. The dinner we had was one of our best we had in three weeks Japan, if not the best. With the kids we liked to spend time with their goats. This was a special experience for them which they enjoyed a lot.

He tried to help us have the best experience possible on our Kumano Kodo. Is also just a lovely human. The accommodation is in the most gorgeous place, because it was not in a central location. Simon works very hard to shuttle his guests to and from Tanabe and the trailhead. The house itself is beautiful and we enjoyed talking to him and learning about his small village of 70 people.
