Henry VIII Cottage, a hidden gem in the heart of Henley, is a stones’ throw from the River Thames, shops, restaurants and the vibrant summer entertainment. It is a Grade II listed home, with exposed beams and plenty of character. Low ceilings and doorways upstairs add to the charm (please mind your head!). Henry VIII has three double bedrooms two bathrooms and two separate living rooms allowing you to find some peace and quiet whilst also making the property suitable for a friends and family stay. The south facing garden allows you to relax after a day out exploring or perhaps shopping in the town.
We recently moved to Henley and fell totally in love with the town, its history, the pace of life and its people. It gives us great pleasure to welcome guests to Henry VIII Cottage so that they can share some of our excitement. Walking along the banks of the Thames, meandering along the paths through the hills and hearing the calls of the majestic kites as they soar above you brings us close to nature. Our friends ask when we are going on holiday to which we can honestly reply “we are on holiday”.
Henley-On-Thames is a beautiful English town, surrounded by countryside and famous for The Royal Regatta and Henley Festivals. Midsomer Murder fans will recognise some of the locations, and the Henley Ale trail is famous. Heathrow is the closest airport and there are good train connections from Henley to London. Days out to Windsor, Oxford and even Warner Bros’ Harry Potter studios in Watford are all recommended, as is walking along the Thames and hiking and cycling in the beautiful Chiltern Hills. Close to Henley, in hiking distance, are several beautiful villages all with super pubs, so circular walks are very enjoyable. You can hire a boat or take an organised boat trip along the Thames. Children are well catered for, with lots to keep them busy and entertained at the nearby Mill Meadows with its great playgrounds and the River and Rowing Museum. A short car ride brings them to the Roahl Dahl museum in Great Missenden or to Beaconscot Model Village. Henley is a great base for a summer holiday.
