Neighbourhood information

Raspberry Catterwood Cottage is located about 12 minutes’ walk from the small village of Croftamie. Slightly further afield is Drymen (5 minutes’ drive) with an excellent butcher, well stocked Spar supermarket, a couple of nice places to eat, a bicycle hire shop, a dentist and a doctors surgery. Balloch (about 15 minutes’ drive) is on the south shore of Loch Lomond and has a large Co-op supermarket, a branch of Jenners, Hawkeshead outdoor clothing shop, Chinese, Indian and Italian restaurants, take-aways, a marina, boat hire and pleasure cruises on the loch. As well as the outdoor pursuits around Raspberry Cottage (walking, climbing, cycling, fishing, horse-riding, boating, wildlife watching etc.) there are indoor activities for the rainy days. In Drymen the Buchanan Hotel has a swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, gym and squash court. Day tickets are usually available to visitors. There are four distilleries, each within half an hour’s drive of Raspberry Cottage (Deanston, Glengoyne, Loch Lomond and Auchentoshan) all of which conduct tours.
