Quiet home, right in the heart of the action. Just around the corner from lively Camden Street and a stone's throw from Stephen's Green, Grafton Street and St Patrick's Cathedral, this is the ideal base to explore Dublin. Suits one guest or a couple. This is a good-sized bedroom in a two-bedroom apartment shared with the host. It is in a duplex building on a charming, residential, south city-centre street. Synge Street is a cool and quiet oasis, and just around the corner is the lively Wexford Street/Camden Street area, lined with bars, music venues, restaurants and eateries catering to every taste. It's a great central location – and a quiet, cosy home with all the amenities too. The bedroom is at the back of the house and gets the morning sunshine. Double doors open out onto a small back garden. The bed is a standard double – suitable for a couple or a single guest. Clean sheets, bedding, towels and plenty of storage are all supplied – even an electric blanket for the winter. The room has a desk with an office chair for those who wish to work during their stay. There is good fast wifi and a flatscreen tv with Netflix too. A hairdryer is provided. The bathroom is adjacent to the two bedrooms and is shared. The bedroom opens out to a small back garden with a patio table and chairs, great for a cup of coffee on a sunny morning. A simple complimentary breakfast is provided each morning and guests can make light use of the kitchen during the day. An iron & ironing board is also available. I have most things you'd expect in a home and I try to be helpful so please just ask if you need something. On-street parking permits can be arranged for an extra fee. I have only a limited number of these permits so please check with me in advance if you require them. Occasionally, if I’m away, the entire apartment may be available to rent.
I'm from Dublin, a locaI, and will be happy to help you with directions or suggestions. I understand that some guests are happy to do their own thing, others will look for advice and recommendations, and with others – if I have the time – there might be an opportunity to show you a little of my Dublin or enjoy a chat and a glass of wine together. I do my best to help all my guests and point them in the right direction. I enjoy chatting with guests, but I totally understand if you'd prefer to rest up and have some quiet time. It's all good as long as you're happy and you enjoy your stay.
The Camden Street/Portobello area is one of the very best in Dublin – lively, cultural, full of pubs, coffee shops, restaurants, music venues and night clubs. Whelans, Dublin's most important music venue is around the corner on Wexford Street. Pub-of-the-year winners Devitt's is even closer and also has live music every night. Other places of interest in the immediate vicinity include: St Patrick's Cathedral, Marsh's Library, the National Concert Hall, The Museum of Literature (MoLI), the Iveagh Gardens, St Stephen's Green, the Grand Canal … and many more. Grafton Street, Trinity College, the Parliamentary buildings, the National History Museum and the National Gallery are within a radius of 10-20 mins walk. So too are Dublin Castle and the wonderful Chester Beattie Library. The thriving nightlife of George's Street, South William Street and Dame Lane – and the more tourist-focused Temple Bar are within 15mins walk. The Guinness Brewery, the Jameson Distillery, the Brazen Head Pub, The Cobblestone, O'Connell Street are also easily walkable. It's worth pointing out that Dublin city centre is mostly on the south side of the river, so most places of interest – and most of the nightlife – are nearby. For sports fans, or for big gigs, Croke Park is on the number 16 bus route; the Aviva Stadium/Landsdowne Road is a short taxi journey away. All the main city-centre attractions are easily walkable from here – and I'm happy to provide maps to show you how to get around. But if you have cause to use public transport, the area is very well served by bus routes, light rail (Luas), taxis and Dublin Bikes.
