Our home is a loft at the second floor of a X century watermill in the middle of Chianti, with two bedrooms, one in the attic and one int the tower. Walls are one meter thick, so no airconditioning is needed. It is a carbon-free house, with solar panels (connected to the grid) and a heating system with wood. It is served with bus, but a car is recommended. This is a private home and It has thus a cozy and friendly environment but it lacks of the comforts and services of tourist facilities. Be aware that there is no mobile connection in the house.
I am Franco Ruzzenenti, I am 49 and I spent the last 20 years in Siena. Now, with my wife Aga and my daughter Malina, we moved to Groningen, Netherlands, where i teach at the University. We like the mountains, hiking and climbing. We like fish, risotto, chocolate, mango and dancing. Best movies: City Lights; Dersu Uzala; La Dolce Vita; Black Cat, White Cat and Blues Brothers. Books: Moby Dick; The Brothers Karamazov; Issa Valley; Lala. Music: Tchaikowsky; Mozart; Miles Davis; Vinicius De Moraes, Nina Simone and Luigi Tenco. As a guests, we are friendly and discrete, tidy and jovial. My life motto: panta rei. As previously mentioned, we rent this house when we are away, thus, don't expect any direct help from house. You must be independent, although, I will always be available to interact with you by email or by phone, anytime of the day. Plus, my neighbors are always available to help you. As soon as you book, I'll send you a detailed "instruction manual" for the house, to help you in troubleshooting and get started with your staying.
We are like a big family with all of our neighbors. They are very kind and generous, just don't take advantage of them, please. But as long as you will be polite, they will be willing to help you (almost) anytime. It is about 20 km away from Siena, on the road between Siena and Gaiole in Chianti (ss 408). You can also get here by Montevarchi, which is southern of Firenze, on the highway to Rome. It is connected with Siena by bus, but there are 5 buses a day.
