We felt very privileged to be able to stay in this beautiful, traditional Japanese house. The house is conveniently located but far enough away from the very busy tourist areas that it was quiet at night and offered the chance to explore some traditional streets without all the crowds. The house is comfortable and well-equipped and Akemi was a very friendly and helpful host who provided lots of information and recommendations both before and during our stay.

Great central location, ideal for site seeing. Walk to Kyoto's main shopping district, Nishiki market, Gion and the nightlife of Pontocho. Plenty of public transportation, restaurants and shopping near by. Maeniiya Machiya Inn is one of the very first Japanese-style townhouse machiya guesthouses in Kyoto, now in operation over 20 years. Our numerous repeat customers love the quiet old cobblestone lane and old world atmosphere of this charming machiya. Two free bicycles are provided so you can explore the city. Come stay with us. Your home away from home! The two bedrooms with tatami (woven-straw) floor include futon beds. You can enjoy a garden view. The private bathroom comes with a bath, a shower and a hairdryer. Maeniiya Machiya Inn comes with a full kitchen with a microwave and oven. The dining area includes a traditional kotatsu table. A washing machine and a tumble dryer are also available. The Gion district for shopping is a 16-minute walk away from the property. Shijo Station on Karasuma Subway Line and Hankyu Kyoto Line is a 10-minute walk away. The main JR Kyoto Station is a 10-minute taxi ride away.

Guests will receive an e-mail from the property regarding the payment procedures, after the booking is made.
Guests must pay one night's deposit within 3 days of receiving the instructions in order to secure the booking, otherwise the booking will be cancelled.
The final payment for the entire stay is due 30 days prior to the check-in date.

Guests must check-in at the Management Company and receive a key to the property. Their office is located near JR Kyoto Station (a 3 minute walk) and is open daily from 10:00 to 19:00.

Guests are kindly requested to keep the noise level down as the property is in a very quiet residential area.
There is no child rate. Children will be charged normal adult rates unless they are infants who can share a bed.
