Step back in time when you visit us. We like doing things the old fashioned way, like cooking and baking on a fire breathing coal stove and enjoying music on a wind-up gramophone. We do, weather permitting, a Roadhouse and Drive-in experience in our back yard for up to 10 vehicles. We recreated a drive-in with a roadhouse experience where you can enjoy a movie in your own vehicle with the soundtrack on your radio and be able to order from our roadhouse menu. Food and drink delivered to your vehicle on window trays just as in days gone by. This is an extra paid service that must be booked in advance. The loft unit is totally separate from the main house with it's own entrance and parking spot. From our photos you will see it is divided into two main parts, a living area and a bedroom with bathroom. The entire area is air conditioned. The bedroom has two beds, a single and a double bed. We have extra top class camping beds available (seen in the photo of the closet and listed under futon) to accommodate larger families. There is also a camping cot available. In the living area there is a mini kitchenette consisting of a kettle, microwave and bar fridge. Here you can help yourself to coffee or tea, warm a meal, or enjoy a quick breakfast with the cereal provided. Cooked meals however must be ordered beforehand. A study desk has been placed by a multi plug as a work area so you can charge your phone and connect your laptop to catch up with the office. Another desk is at a window if you prefer a view. The couches are arranged for you to relax as a family and Netflix is available on the TV set. It is a smart TV so you can connect to other subscriptions you may have. You are deemed to have read and accepted them on arrival.

It has been said of me I was born a few decades too late for my fondness of antiques., fondness of 50's music and vehicles from the period. I look forward to welcome you with the same old school hospitality. The loft unit is totally apart from the main house and you can come and go without bumping into us. We totally respect your privacy whilst here, although we do welcome you to spend time and unwind with us enjoying our home cooked dinners fresh from the coal stove.

Scottsville is an old established area of Pietermaritzburg with houses dating from the 1890's around Scottsville Mall and racecourse, the University of KwaZulu-Natal and Golden Horse Casino. The three mentioned venues are within a 2km radius from us and worth visiting. The clocktower of the university can be seen from your bedroom window. This particular area was built up during the 1940's. We are lucky to have a quiet neighborhood with great neighbors and endeavor to keep it like that by a no noise policy after 22h00. Also worth a visit, also within a 2km radius is Maritzburg College established in 1853, the canoe club opposite it, Girls High School, Scottsville Police Station and the Harry Gwala Stadium. A little further on from the stadium is Kershaw Park. In the area there is a swimming pool, tennis courts and a bowling club. A short trip further down Chief Albert Luthuli Street is the start of the Comrades Marathon opposite the historic city hall and many historic buildings and museums in the area.
