Possibly the best hostel I have ever stayed - though that word doesn’t do it justice! Onsen and all common spaces were beautiful, the kitchen was the best appointed I’ve ever seen with everything from cooking sake to coffee beans and grinders, staff were helpful. It’s a bit out of the way of things but that makes for a really peaceful atmosphere.

Guests at Hakone Mount View can enjoy rare volcanic hot spring water called nigori-yu, either in a shared open-air bath or at a surcharge in a private one. The hotel offers a shop with local products, Japanese-style confectionery shop. I loved everything about this place! The staff was amazing, super friendly and nice people. Very helpful and cheerful but professional. The food was amazing too. I'm vegan and can say that I didn't expect that a hotel would put so much effort into creating a perfect vegan meal. Thank you so much for this experience. The Onsen is great too, I loved it (public and private ones). Directly in front of the hotel is a bus stop so it's super easy to get everywhere from the hotel. The room was very clean and beautiful, providing everything you need. I wish I could have stayed longer at this amazing place! Highly recommend!
Hakone
Opened in 1878, Fujiya Hotel features Meiji Era architecture set in Hakone’s natural beauty. Just 500 metres from Miyanoshita Station, it offers indoor and outdoor pools, a spa and a restaurant in a converted Imperial Villa called Kikka-so Inn. Rooms feature bathtubs with natural hot-spring water. The hotel itself is absolutely exceptional, and probably the most impressive luxury hotel I've ever stayed. If you enjoy the history exploration and the Japanese-western style, Fujiya definitely will be a great fit. The hotel finished its renovation 2 years ago and everything is in good condition. You can experience its glory and rich history since the majority of areas are free to explore for staying guests. (Do not miss its museum, library and garden. The swimming pool is a bit small, and personally I quite enjoyed its style.) In fact, my friends and I spent so much time exploring the hotel itself, the time spent in Fujiya hotel eventually became the highlight of our Hakone trip.

Well situated in the Chuo Ward district, this hotel offers a restaurant, as well as a sauna and a hot spring bath. The property is non-smoking and is located 400 metres from Nihon Tenji Seitei no Chi. The location was amazing - right in the centre of Gina and it's super easy to find. I upgraded from a single room to a twin room since I had a friend joining me last minute. The room was located on the 12th floor, and the size is super big in Tokyo standard - we have enough room to walk around, opened both of our suitcases and still be able to walk round and enjoy our room!

Nice bar, nice room, with shower cabin and bath. I have stayed in many hotels in Tokyo. My final opinion: I would repeat my stay in this hotel with pleasure.

The Japanese style room was totally beyond our expectation. The room is very clean, bed is comfortable and warm, bathroom has everything we'd need. In the room, it also provides full bottle of water in the water boiler, along with a full tea set! The in-room dinner and breakfast is a completely blow-away experience! The in-room onsen also provides the convenience to my daughter to enjoy the hot spring without going to the public area.
Beautiful Japanese ryokan in a magical setting. The multi-course kaseiki dinner and traditional breakfast were superb, with all the dishes impeccably presented and absolutely delicious. Our lovely hostess, Kyoko, graciously served us and patiently explained every dish using goggle translate. The onsens had great district views and we emerged from the hot spring water feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. We would love to come back here again!
The place is best to experience the Japanese hot springs without feeling crowded. The staff was really kind and treated us like their friends/family. The shared hotspring area is really clean and spacious. The private hot spring was my fav. part.
Our stay at Hakanowa Hot Spring Inn was wonderful right down to the little details such as complimentary sweet treats, a free gift, the yukatas, filtered water, the private onsen, and a streamlined check-in / out system. Great value-for-money in the Hakone region. We would definitely stay again!
The room is very spacious and comfortable, you get more than double the sizes compared to the usual hotel rooms at similar prices in Tokyo or Osaka. Although at first glance, it might seem a bit expensive, the dinner and breakfast in the halfboard option are both very delicious and with great portions. Considering what you get, it's very good value too. The paid private Onsen (hot springs pool) is also a very enjoyable experience.
We liked our stay at the ryokan, the service was very friendly and the lobby was beautiful. We love that the ryokan was situated next to the river and surrounded by many trees. The place was very quiet and peaceful. The service was friendly and we were greeted by Hitomi who answered all our questions. The hot spring bath was nice and we were able to choose between the indoor or outdoor onsen. It's a very nice place to experience a traditional ryokan in a more modern facilty.
Lovely ryokan, with authentic rooms and onsen. Very friendly staff, hot springs were such a good experience and totally worth it. Breakfast and dinner was delicious. Due to heavy rain on our check-out day, no buses were driving. The staff handled the situation very well and organized transport to the next station.
The room was lovely. The meals were good. The hot spring was great! We booked a room with a private Onsen. It was heavenly.
Very authentic traditional ryokan experience. The staff/owners were very welcoming and kind, trying their utmost to accomodate us. As an example, as they do not offer breakfast or dinner, we were offered to order from a list of local restaurants and they would pick up the food for us. The also offered to liason to make restaurant reservations. The rooms were spacious, well-kept and comfortable. The two reservable private Onsen were very clean, spacious, and comfortable.
Great onsen. The hot spring was black tea colored because of all the minerals. Beautiful shower area with hot ceramic pot/tubs. Sauna is a steam sauna. very clean comfortable hotel. Very safe. Lots of great tourist attractions nearby.
