Magical. Also friendly and good value. A sunset walk to the nearby castle was one of our best experiences in Portugal.

Ideally located in the highest village in Portugal, El Rei Dom Manuel Hotel is housed in a historic building, its rooms offer breathtaking and stunning views over the landscapes of Portugal and Spain.... Very comfortable hotel with plenty of Portuguese character and charm. We were lucky to have a mountain view room from which we enjoyed a stunning sunrise. Easy parking outside the hotel although the road through the town is very narrow.

Hotel Rural Monte da Provença is a small 4-star charm hotel located within 7.5 km from the centre of Elvas. Beautiful settings, with wonderful garden and views, a large pool, enormous suites, warm, clean and comfortable rooms, and all beautifully decorated. Dinner was excellent and breakfast was large and high quality. A rural country hotel that surprised us.

Residencial Antonio Mocisso Guesthouse is located in Elvas. Badajoz, in neighbouring Spain is 22 km from the guest house. All air-conditioned rooms come with a private bathroom, refrigerator and a TV.... The woman on the reception was extraordinary friendly and very helpful!

Featuring white-washed Alentejo architecture, Torre de Palma Wine Hotel, Montforte, a Member of Design Hotels offers indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a spa and wellness centre, and a restaurant and... A fantastic property in a stunning location. We loved the thematic decor of the property. They have some lovely touches like a rooftop sunset welcome drink. The food in the restaurant was excellent, as was the service. The 'wine at the table' experience is a must. The restaurant service was on point. The pool area is chic and the loungers comfortable. The water was refreshing! The spa area was good although the steam room seemed to turn itself off for some reason at one point. The fact that the horse stables are so close and that some of the horses roam the gardens adds a little magic. My wife had a horse riding lesson and enjoyed it.

"Overlooking Montargil Dam, Monte Novo Villas offers rooms and villas with a sophisticated décor and the opportunity to enjoy water sports activities. I struck gold with this hotel. I booked close to a company where I was to have a meeting the following day, so I didn't do a lot of research. The place is truly magnificent. The setting, scenery, the buildings, the rooms, all of it. The room was spacious and luxuriously furnished, with windows looking on to the infinity pool and the reservoir waters beyond, a view only partially blocked by a line of majestic palms. I was, astonishingly, the only guest (a Monday in November...), but was truly well looked after. Although the restaurant was "closed", Miguel (the chef), said he would prepare a dinner for me. What a delight for the senses. Excellent, creatively prepared food with local and seasonal ingredients. It was like having my own private chef for the evening. A very good night's sleep in a very quiet room, and a comfortable bed. The room has a massive TV, a huge split bathroom (double washbasin, shower, toilet), and is equipped with a coffee machine with a handful of capsules (I enjoyed a coffee on the terrace outside before I even went for breakfast). The service was impeccable. I realise that it was off-season and the room rate can be double what I paid, but even then it would be well worth the money. Thanks Miguel. Located in Pavia, 43 km from Cathedral of Evora Se, Monte da Bela Raposa provides accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a terrace. Arriving in Monte da Bela Raposa in mid-August, I did not at all expect to spend the two most beautiful days of the summer. At the end of a road, a few kilometers from the small village of Pavia, is Françoise's house. For her, the divine is in the details. The house is sublime and harmoniously decorated with collection of antiques objects that she has collected over the years. Every corner reveals that the place has been perfectly thought out, but at the same time everything seems perfectly natural. Offering stunning peace, the garden is a clever mix of wild nature and the subtle disposition of nature. I loved the views of the lake from the pool. The rooms are actually suites, an example of sobriety and elegance. The comfort of the bedding is exceptional. The smells are delicious everywhere. You will have understood that the place is essential. Everything is both modest and sublime. Finally, the place would be nothing without Françoise, she is a wise woman, of delicacy and intelligence. We had a nice chat where we shared our passion for design, antiques and ruins. The breakfast was incredible, fresh and well-prepared, with many things coming from the property's garden. The staff are so kind, helpful, and accommodating, such warmth and hospitality. I really (and publicly) wanted to thank you for having welcomed me into your home, and I hope to be able to return regularly to recharge my batteries in this haven of peace and flavor.
