How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The breakfast options were lacking otherwise good.
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Swissotel Al Ghurair in Dubai, and my experience was nothing short of outstanding. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism by Gladwell at the front desk. Her excellent customer service made the check-in process smooth, efficient, and welcoming. The hotel itself is stunning, with beautifully appointed rooms and top-notch amenities that made my stay incredibly comfortable. The location is perfect, providing easy access to shopping, dining, metro and attractions. During my stay, I needed to extend my check-out time due to a late flight. Saber was incredibly accommodating, handling my request with utmost efficiency and a genuine desire to assist. Their proactive approach and willingness to go the extra mile truly enhanced my overall experience. Additionally, I had a special request for a room setup to celebrate a personal milestone. The attention to detail and the effort put into fulfilling this request were remarkable. The room was beautifully arranged, exceeding my expectations and adding a personal touch that made my stay even more memorable. Swissotel Al Ghurair not only offers luxurious accommodations and top-notch amenities but also has an exceptional team dedicated to providing the best service. The level of care and professionalism demonstrated by Gladwell and Saber is a testament to the high standards upheld by the hotel. Thank you, Gladwell and Saber, for making my stay unforgettable. A man called Sabel was the most understanding man at the desk. He promptly gave us an early check in at 3am because he could see how exhausted we were and he was super helpful throughout our trip. We couldn’t have been more grateful and he’s the reason we will be back for our stay in July!

More variety at breakfast. Shower pressure too weak.
Spacious room, comfortable bed and pillows, fast lifts, ample sitting space in lobby. Staff are polite and helpful. Concierge staff was outstanding. Mall is attached to hotel which is very convenient.

Was near shopping and restaurants. Just above a Mall. Since transport was restricted, due to flooding, this was a necessity! The Staff, particularly Wasim was very helpful and provided a solution for all our requests, at a challenging time.

More non-veg options at breakfast would be great. Pressure was weak in the shower, took ages to bathe.
Room was spacious, bed was comfortable. Staff at reception/concierge were courteous and helpful. Hotel atmosphere was great. Fast lifts. Appreciated the welcome birthday cake for our son. Thank you Swissotel.

Minor: a little confusion with the correct elevator to use the first time; ended up on ground floor with exit doors that will not open, thus had to find the right elevator to use. Otherwise, quickly learned from minor mishap.
