Absolutely nothing

This property is amazing. The beautiful rooms, the amazing balcony and the view. It’s one of the best apartment’s I have ever stayed in. The owners are so kind and helpful offering to drive me to the beach making sure the fridge had essentials. They have thought of everything from fly screens on all windows, mosquito nets on the beds, books, games and the lovely sheets and towels. They even supply beach towels. I can’t wait to go back.

There is very little not to like here - all we could have asked for is a pool - but then we would be paying much more - so be careful what you wish for!

Danillo was in touch with us throughout, and was waiting for us, with the gates opened and keys in hand. It could not have been easier. The apartment was well equipped, parking was easy, and the fridge had been stocked for our first night, with some milk, rum, a couple of beers and a few things to eat - amazing for our first night. We were made to feel most welcome. Perfect hospitality. Location is 3 minutes from the harbour and all the restaurants.

Only really the mosquitos. These are most active in the morning and the evening and did mean sitting on the balcony required application of the repellent. The roads are poor with lots of pot holes, but the traffic was generally fine. The longest it takes to get from one side of the island to the other is about 45 mins.

Donkey on the Beach is a beautiful property run by Orietta and Danilo. I didn't have too much time to research location when I booked and largely picked it based on reviews. I wasn't disappointed. Having driven around a lot of Antigua over our holiday, English Harbour is the nicest part and our favourite beach was Galleon Beach which is a 5 min drive away. The property itself is spotless and we kept spotting new details and artwork everyday. The bedrooms are airconditioned and there are fans in all rooms. High vaulted ceilings. The highlight is the covered balcony that has views over Falmouth harbour, and in the distance, Monserrat on which you could see the volcano. The sunset from the balcony is beautiful. A 5 min walk from the property is 'Famous Mauro's' pizza restaurant. We ate there a few nights, but mostly used it for lunch. In the morning they sell baguette sandwiches and croissants. Donkey on the Beach is very handily equipped with a cool box and cooling packs. We used this most days, buying sandwiches from Mauro's, drinks from the supermarket and taking it to whichever beach we chose for the day. A lot of the beaches have restaurants, but for a family of 4 you're looking at $80-$100 USD a meal, so we tended to eat out in the evening. The cooler also meant we could go to beaches without worrying about the facilities. Galleon Beach offers snorkelling tours, but if you bring your own goggles or mask/fins you can equally just follow the line of buoys at the southern end of the beach and chances are you'll see a turtles grazing on the sea bed. We saw a couple of turtles, a ray and the ship wreck (more of a boat than a ship).

Everything was really great.

Quiet and peaceful location. Helpful hosts. Arrived to find essentials already provided. Good views. Short drive to English harbour and Pidgeon point beach. Recommend you have a hire car to reach all the best spots around the island.

Locking the external gate before and after trips out was a pain because the gate had to be in a precise position to lock. Also, the electricity panel kept tripping and it would have been great if the living room was also air conditioned.

The property was spacious with great facilities. Simona, the on-hand contact person was great.

Everything was great.

Great location with a lovely view. Near a lot of restaurants and English harbour. Much more local flavour than when we visited the all-inclusive beach resorts. Our hosts were very welcoming and nothing was too much whenever we had any questions. Very friendly guest house.

We loved everything about our stay at Donkey on the Beach! Our hosts, Dany & Ori were just lovely. We so appreciated arriving after a long day of travelling to find the fridge stocked with cold drinks, water, coffee & eggs. They also drove us into town our first night and showed us all the wonderful places to eat, the beaches and where to buy groceries. Later in the week when my husband accidently bought coffee beans instead of ground coffee they graciously gave us a package from their own supply. The accommodation itself was spotless, the beds were comfortable and the view of the harbour from the terrace was just beautiful! We would definitely stay here again!

Everything was great

We liked everything about the property! The apartment has everything and the view is amazing. it looks better in real life than on the pictures! The hosts thought about every little detail so that guests would not have to worry about the dish soap or garbage bags. We had a rough start to our vacation as WestJet did not deliver our bags (on a direct flight!) and we were a few hours late, but the owners were waiting for us. As it was Sunday night and a lot of restaurants were already closed, we really appreciated to find snacks and beer in the fridge and some food and coffee to make breakfast the next morning. In the morning Orietta brought me some of her clothes that was a good fit and allowed me to last a couple of days until we got the luggage. We are extremely grateful for their hospitality and support - thank you so very much, guys!

there was nothing I didn’t like about this property… but on a lazy day it was a good walk to the beach… but a worthwhile walk with 2 lovely beaches to pick from. the buses run regular and are cheap, or there are taxis. getting around is easy. oh gang on I’m saying what I like not what I didn’t like 🤣

the property was lovely. the owners thought of everything and the attention to detail was superb. the apartment was so clean and thoughtfully decorated. no matter what we needed, we didn’t need to ask, as we knew they would have thought of it!! it was so comfortable with a lovely relaxing outdoor veranda space with amazing views over English Harbour. the owners gave us a starter pack so we didn’t have to go to the supermarket, and these were the small details that made this vacation so amazing.

The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful throughout our entire stay. They greeted us upon arrival to tour us through our room and even took us for a drive to show us around English Harbour. We were also surprised to find our fridge stocked with some food, snacks and beers. This was very much appreciated after arriving late in the evening after a long day of travel. Throughout the stay they gave us a number to contact them at any time in case we needed anything. On the last night they invited us to their place for a delicious home-cooked Italian pizza with wine and dessert. Bonus is that this is truly the best pizza on the island! Overall the hosts were just incredible and a pleasure to have met. I’m glad to have stayed here and if we go back to Antigua I will stay here again. The accommodation itself was also perfect. It wasn't directly downtown English Harbour so it was quiet at night but only a short walking distance to the main town. We woke up every morning to a beautiful view of the harbour and all the anchored boats. The place was equipped with a nice bathroom and a full kitchen with everything needed to cook ourselves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Overall 10/10 stay!

Actually walking distance to Falmouth/English harbour, but probably not recommendable in night along the road. I had a rental car, which helped me out.

Great place, loveley Italian couple, good support, enjoyed the appartement. Chosing this one again when I come back.

The property has a beautiful view over Falmouth Harbour and is within easy walk of English Harbour and Pigeon Point Beach. Dany and Ori are the most welcoming hosts we have ever stayed with. They were always available if we needed recommendations, greeted us with welcome provisions and gave us a tour around the local area to get us acclimatised. They helped make our stay in this beautiful island a real pleasure.

Easy access to groceries, restaurants, and a great place to start day trips around Antigua. The apt was well stocked when we arrived and Dani and Ori were extremely attentive. Don't miss the Jerk Chicken at Shirley Heights if you go. Wouldn't hesitate to go back.

The 2-bed apartment is extremely comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. Each bedroom has a large en-suite, air-con and a fan. The apartment is located in Cobbs Cross, very close to Falmouth and English Harbour. It’s a perfect spot to explore the island (you need a rental car!). The hosts are welcoming and available to answer questions and give tips on the best restaurants and beaches on the island. Thank you!
