Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

UkraineBreakfast is super basic.
The lodge was fine overall. As stated in other reviews, it`s far from the town, so you need to be ready to walk for 20 minutes one way. Room is basic, the bed is very tiny and the pillows are worn out. But you have your own private bathroom and it is nice.

ItalyThis wasn't an issue for us, but keep in mind the lodge is at 20 mins walk from the centre/shops and slightly uphill. Which is the reason why you get the amazing view :)
The lodge has an amazing view of the mountains and town (amazing landscape) and a pretty common lounge. The private room with the ensuite had a very good size, shower was good and included soap and shampoo. Breakfast had a good variety, but quality could be improved. The reception had reduced hours (we were there at the end of April), but the staff was very responsive via WhatsApp and was very helpful even when we needed a taxi and laundry.

About 20 minute walk into town center, but this means it is pretty quiet and also has nice views of the surroundings. Loved the kettle and coffee/tea in the room. Breakfast is basic but ok.

GermanyIt is not located in the city centre, min. 20 walk. We didn’t mind walking, but you should consider this if you’re only staying 1-2 nights

United KingdomQuite far out of town so best if you have a car and some of the bathroom facilities could do with updating as they’re a little broken down/ dilapidated .
Had a nice view over calafate and was always very warm! Breakfast was nice but you have to request eggs and they won’t cook them for you after 9am even though breakfast is until 9:30

United KingdomBreakfast was a little disappointing. Would have liked more variety and options. We didn’t mind the walk to town but others might especially at night.
Staff were generally very lovely. Super helpful with trips etc. Rooms are rustic but this fits with the towns vibe and they were generally quite clean.

United StatesThe location is terrible if you plan to walk into the city! The center of town is almost a mile away and the town has not invested in safe walking areas for pedestrians- you have to walk through a round about if you want to go into town! There are also quite a few houses on the street where Bla Lodge is located that have dogs on the property. Most were friendly but it was scary to walk back after dark as the dogs were not always behind a fence and weren’t friendly to unwelcome passers by. Nothing bad happened to us while we were there but we certainly took precautions to avoid the dogs as much as possible. There is no one at the front desk late at night so be mindful of this if you are arriving later. It was great to be able to control the temperature in the room however I burned myself on the metal knob they tell you to use to turn it down!
The staff was great and friendly. They went above and beyond to help us get transportation to the airport and were generally very nice. The room was a decent size and had a nice view. Breakfast was provided and had options including scrambled eggs, toast, cereal and juice.

The staff was lovely and spoke excellent English (just mentioning it as a highlight as it’s not as common in Patagonia). Great location in El Calafate if you have a car. Really great value for what you pay. Great sized rooms, comfortable beds, plenty of space and hot shower and bath!

United KingdomThey charged us in the ‘MEP’ rate, which we didn’t think was allowed. For context, there are like 8 different exchange rates in Argentina. The official rate, which you get if you get your money out of the ATM is around 400 pesos for £1, and Bla Lodge charged at a rate that was 800 pesos for £1. So if you had taken your money out the ATM and then paid this rate then you would have paid double!!
Beautiful property with views over El Calafate. Comfortable and stylish rooms. Good breakfast each morning. Nice staff.
