Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustriaThere were some weird rules about when the kitchen could be used, not being allowed to have food/drinks in the room (and the common area was always fairly cold due to the door being open), and some other things. The kitchen seemed nice at first, but it could be better equipped - it was really hard to find enough cutlery, even just finding a single knife was difficult. The door code apparently changed the second day we were there and we only found out by chance. At one point a guy walked into our room, apparently there were two room #1s (something like 1 and 1a, I think). Probably would be good if the staff could point this out or show the guests to the room to prevent this confusion.
The heater worked really, really well, which was great after a week in El Chaltén in the cold wind. Fairly nice kitchen facilities. Breakfast was decent enough. Location is pretty good, just a couple blocks from the main street in town. We had to get to the airport really early in the morning but couldn't really get a hold of various taxi companies and we didn't have enough pesos and needed to pay partially in dollars, but the guy at the front desk was helpful and found us a rid quickly.

CanadaSuper nice reception staff. Very welcoming and helpful. It could stand to be cleaner, though. We so much hair on our floor, we kept picking clumps of it off our socks. Lots of hair in the drain as well. Otherwise, good hostel.

RussiaIt was no heating and no hot water in the shower. The conditions are close like you are sleeping in a tent - very cold and no possibility to wash yourself.
Very friendly stuff of the hostel! I’m grateful for the help.

United KingdomShortage of kitchen utensils, cutlery. Limited use of kitchen. ( not 24 hours). Tried to light the gas oven but no instructions and staff didn't know how. Success with much trial and error but not particularly safe.
Location excellent. Hostel has bikes for hire. Spacious room, storage, nice bathroom. General atmosphere, friendly and welcoming. Good wi fi throughout.

SwedenThe flushing mechanism of the toilet was broken so we had to pick it up manually from below the water. We were only staying one quick night before traveling so we didn't ask to have it fixed immediately or for a change of rooms. Waiting times at breakfast, i.e. for the toaster. Squeaky bed.
Location, location, location. I would not stay anywhere else than close to the main avenue if I was just staying for one night (proximity to bars and restaurants). Value for money, breakfast included.

PolandThere is only two toilets for a lot of people you have to wait like 20 minutes in the morning, no space for your personal belongings, shower not have hot water, loud music in the lobby after 10 for this price you probably expect more than Asian hostel quality. You can get better place for this price.
Personel was super nice and helpfull. Breakfest was ok, no limit but basic.

HungaryOnly 1 shared bathroom - which can be a bit annoying but overall there were no problems with it apart from having to wait a little bit.
I really liked my stay - breakfast was included in the price (the price was very reasonable) - breakfast included scrambled eggs, coffee, toast etc, great service! The atmosphere is very pleasant, cozy and familiar, very easy to meet fellow travelers. Location is very central

New ZealandI’m a bit confused as to why this place is recommended in Lonely Planet. It is okay but it is definitely nothing special. The rooms were average and the doors don’t work properly - I got locked in the bathroom twice and it was hard to know if our main door was locked. It was cold and we had one light blanket. The guy that worked there was unfriendly and gave off a weird vibe. Perhaps as we don’t speak fluent Spanish, it seemed like he was joking about us to other guests. Breakfast was very average - cakes and bread/jam were it there was no healthy option. So expensive for what you get, it’s a bit of a catfish.

United KingdomIt's a hostel so you don't expect as much but the rooms are a little grubby. The blanket on top of the bed looked pretty gross. It was really noisy and very light in the morning, so it was hard to sleep. Very thin pillow too. You kind of expect a hostel to be a bit noisier and not as comfortable or clean but it's very expensive for a hostel so you hope for a better quality.
It's location is great, nice and close to the main street and restaurants etc. The bed sheets were clean. Nice you get a free breakfast (a very simple one)

PolandThe top bunk is a nightmare to get onto. The girl at the reception seemed very unhappy with her job and it felt like we were bothering her trying to check-in.
Very basic place, a bit off the Main Street but Calafate is very small so that doesn’t matter.

ItalyIt looks like the hostel was very good some years ago but now it lost its charm. The building is very old and not well maintained. The walls of the private rooms upstairs are very thin and you can hear the people talking in the next room like they are in yours. When taking a shower the water completely stopped working (not only hot water, but literally no more water coming out) and the girl at the reception said she was aware of the problem but there was nothing she could do about it as it happens when multiple people are using the showers. I had to wait 30 min before being able to rinse the shampoo from my hair. Finally the kitchen is not really well equipped. You don’t have any oil to cook with and it misses other basic stuff.
The guy at the reception is extremely friendly and he was super helpful in arranging things for us and provided good advices.
