Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyWe're slightly disappointed with the room. It looked quite spacious in the photos (well done to the photographer for choosing the right angles), however in fact it was relatively small. Also not quite clear why the bathroom is transparent all around, offering no privacy. Ok if you're staying as a couple - but probably not right if you are with children or just a friend. Besides, there was no safe in the room. One thing, which is not exactly negative, but just peculiar - the allocation of tables for breakfast and dinner. It's fixed for the whole duration of your stay, so we advice contacting reception in advance in case you have some clear preferences: the modern part of the restaurant is lighter, while the traditional one is darker (especially feels at dinner) but offers more privacy. It's also strange (or we're spoilt by Arabian hotels) that even simple drinks as water and tea are for a charge at lunch and dinner. It's particularly strange if you consider that you can get yourself tea for free at any time in the Spa area - why is the difference?
It's a wonderful hotel for a combination holiday of active sports in the mountains and some relaxation in Spa or Swimming Pool after that. Arguably the best thing about this facility is the cuisine - the taste is delicious and serving looks is simply magnificent - kudos to the Chef and his crew. Also the majority of staff is very friendly. The whole atmosphere of the hotel is very cosy and welcoming as well - from the reception area, to the restaurant (divided into 2 different areas - traditional and modern) to the separate spa area, which is conveniently connected to the main building by an underground tunnel. It also leads to the closed parking, which offers enough space for the cars of all visitors! As for the rooms, albeit relatively small (see comment in the negatives), it's quite comfortable, and the king bed offers a single mattress, which is rare, but highly appreciated.

Czech RepublicGreat hotel in general. But here are some nitpicking. Wi-Fi is very unstable - although you seem to have a good connection, in fact, the internet doesn't work very often. A transparent window between the main part of the apartment and the bath/toilet can be a problem for somebody (although not every apartment is like this). Some staff doesn't speak English. Also at dinner, you can wait for too long to finally get food (our record is 50 minutes), because they wait for all your company to come (and we were a company of 8 friends).
Nice location, close to ski resorts, where you can get by public bus free or sometimes by a direct hotel shuttle. Spacious apartments, excellent spa center. Parking is free.

GermanyOn a micro level, the coffee was marginally too strong and bitter for my taste, but that is a personal thing, and I could have asked for a slightly weaker brew. We stayed for three nights and always sat at the same table to eat, which had advantages as well as disadvantages. Although it was maybe reassuring to always know which table to go to, sometimes we felt a change of scenery would have been nice. Again, I'm sure this would have been arranged if we had asked.
Breakfast was good, with a range of fresh fruit, meats, cheese, eggs, bread rolls, and croissants. In addition we were also offered fried egg and scrambled egg. The evening meal was generally also excellent, with a choice of meat, fish, or vegetarian dishes. The staff were friendly, helpful, and efficient, and our room was a good size, with a separate sitting area with a table and chairs. The lounge area by the restaurant is also large, and we could spread out in comfortable armchairs for an aperitif without feeling crowded. Outside, there is plenty of room to wander around gardens, and to sit or lay in the sun. The area around Elbigenalp is ideal for walking, with several alms within an hour or two hiking. We walked up to and had lunch in a different alm every day. Additionally, the bus stops directly outside the hotel, and extends the range for walking or for doing one way walks.
