Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustriaOn Saturday early morning, there was a false fire alarm, it was terrifying. I would expect an apology or some gesture from the staff after such an accident. Also, the breakfast area was crowded, it was a narrow place to grab your food. Maybe if there would be a selected breakfast shift could create a better experience with fewer people.
The hotel location is lovely, one side is the river, another side is the fortress. The room is spacious and quiet, and a bonus point for the bath tube. Also, recommend the restaurant and bar on the other side of the street, we had a great time there.

GermanyOne of the worst experiences I have ever had in a hotel. I am still shocked how disappointed I was. I booked half board, and had been looking forward to a wonderful meal in the evening. It took TWO AND A HALF HOURS for me to be served three courses, and that only after I asked several times for service. Several disappionted guests left in the meantime. I was even asked to leave before I had finished my coffee because the restaurant was "closing"! Service at breakfast was also chaotic. And I got no sleep at all. My room (very, very small) faced directly opposite the noisiest bar I had ever encountered. No air conditioning in the room so I couldn't even close the windows. I complained strongly upon leaving the hotel the next day and was give only two chocolates - TWO - to make up for the discomfort I had suffered. I cannot recommend this hotel less. Such a shame.
Nice location in the centre of town. The room was quirky. The breakfast was tasty.

Switzerland- there was no AC and it's a really hot summer :( The window could have been opened but 1. it was already really loud (noise coming from inside and outside of the hotel -- definitely NOT soundproof), and 2. there was a huge spider camping outside the window and no mosquito net to prevent it from entering. When mentioned to the staff that it was really (very uncomfortably) hot during the night, they said "yeah, that's the summer". :/ From a 4 start hotel, I expected a slightly more polite answer like "Yes, we apologize. Unfortunately, we don't have AC in our rooms." - there were no proper directions on parking before arrival. It's difficult to drive in that area due to all the cobblestones and many pedestrian streets, but I managed to find a parking garage. Upon arrival to the hotel, the receptionist told me I went to the wrong garage. I suggested to maybe put the correct one (Parking Garage "Altstadtgarage" Kiss) on booking.com, so we know were to park, but he kept dismissing this suggestion. Also, a suggestion for all the trolley bag guests: use the pedestrian street next to the river between the garage and the hotel, so you can save your suitcase from the cobblestones.
- beautiful and thoughtful interior - room size (for single person) was small, but the practical design allowed a comfortable stay - everything looked really clean - the bathroom had a few but really nice toiletries - the river view was pretty - the location was nice and central

United KingdomWe asked for our rooms to be together, but they were not. My husband and I were in a completely different part of the hotel. We didn't even use the same entrance. There is no communal area for sitting eg a lounge. There was nowhere we could all sit together after dinner apart from the bar, but we didn't want to keep buying (very expensive) drinks. My husband and I wanted a standard double room. There were none available when we booked so we booked a more expensive "comfort" room. In our opinion, although tastefully decorated, it was no different to the other rooms. It was smaller that the standard double that one of our sons was in and the shower was smaller than the shower that our other son had. On the website, the hotel shows that the rooms are each themed around a different city in the world. I loved this idea and was looking forward to seeing which city we would get. However, our "comfort" room was in a different part of the hotel, where they don't theme the rooms. This was a real shame. I can't actually understand why we couldn't book a standard double as there was obviously one available, as our younger son was upgraded to it!
Breakfast was very good. We particularly like soft boiled eggs. Every day they were overdone but the chef tried hard to get them right and was very friendly about it. Two of our rooms were very nice. We booked a single room for one of us and it got upgraded to a double. The location is excellent. The street is very pretty, the hotel is near lots of restaurants and the train/bus station. There were no problems with any of our rooms. The Stollen 1930 bar is very cool and we loved trying different cocktails.

NetherlandsNo way to keep the noise out from the street. Too hot. No ventilation and cannot open the window because of noise and smoke. Very rude waiter when we were celebrating our last night with a drink. We were not welcome that afternoon and yelled at. Out of nowhere. Discrimination?
Nice decoration.
