However we didn't cook, but I loved the fully equipped kitchen in this apartment. Also liked the communication before arrival we got all the necessary information even about the free parking possibilities. Adorable old city view from the window. I recommend it.

Floor was just slightly dirty. I sent a message to the host via email and WhatsApp but there was no response during our stay.

Very good location. Kitchen was quite well equipped. Toilet and shower area was clean and had a good supply of hot water. Beds were quite comfortable. Very good value!

We spent only one night,so lack of day light was not a problem. It would be much more comfortable if there was a shower gel in the bathroom and especially coffee capsules for coffee machine. Too mach mails, more then 10 :)

Very precise instructions for check in. Entrance hall like 19th century and then surprise, studio in 21st with all facility. Comfortable beds.

The kitchen toaster and electrical grill were dirty. The bathroom has mold on the walls and in the shower water is spilling out. This needs to be checked

A great place with a great location and the value for the money. The information was spot on! Exactly in the old town , perfect location and all that you need for a few days in Melk. Cool place!

I did not like: - that despite having a coffee machine, the were no coffee pods in the room. They are available only on the corridor for 2 Euro. So if you plan to have your coffee inside, make sure you have coins. Otherwise, there are places nearby that open quite early and you can have a coffee to go; - the building is most likely not very well insulated as it was still quite cold in the room even with the heating working at full capacity. If you have problems with cold feet, bring sleepers; - it would have been nice to have oil, sugar & salt as it is incovenient, especially when staying for just one night, to have to buy a whole bottle/package just to use it once.

The apartment is in a vintage building very close to the city center. It very nicely decorated and it was very convenient to have two bathrooms with showers (not also toilets though). The fact that they provide free parking comes handy as there is no other parking space in the area. The view of the apartment right to the Melk Abbey is quite great!

It would be nice to have recycling bins, I ended up taking some of the stuff to local shop to recycle but they didn't recycle plastics.

I loved this apartment, it was very clean, had everything you needed, 5min walk from the Abbey, with access to local shops.

The parking isn’t that near. The parking in the middle of the town was 60cents per hour during the day.

Everything. The beds were comfy. It was easy to find and the location is just great. The view is spectacular- it’s underneath the Abby. It is in the middle of the town “Melk” which is a calm and quiet aesthetic place. The hotel was clean and historical. We would have loved to stay even longer! Ps: the warm shower and new facilities were huge impacts on the stay.

We spent only 1 night here, on our way to Germany. It was a superb choice, because it is close to the motorway and was a great value for money. We could park a few minutes away for free and walked to the apartment in 3 minutes. It is an old building, but the room was modern, clean and well equipped. The communication with the "reception" was easy, we received all the information we needed (via e-mail) to get the keys (in a safe box) and about other topics. With a few steps, you can reach a restaurant (Rathauskeller), a café (Madar) and a cocktail/wine bar (Kalmuck). Melk is a beautiful small city, so next time we will stay longer.

difficult to get to the building with a larger car as the street is really narrow longterm parking is relatively far away and directions are only displayed on the door - would be easier to share prior to arrival room was pretty cold when we arrived and took a long time to warm up

No lifts here, so owners of big bags like us, beware!

From the reviews, we decided to come and stay an extra evening in Melk, rather than continue in Vienna, and it certainly did not disappoint. Large, spacious, modern and sophisticated, we lived in luxury for a reasonable off-season price. We later learnt that Der Goldener Stern also had a past as a historic inn owned by the Abbey. No staff were seen, and none were needed at this self check-in apartment. Radiator was great for drying washed clothes.

- It would be great if the property could provide breakfast in such a nice place. It’s a suggestion, not some we don’t like. - Elevator!! We had a room on the 3rd floor and it’s such a pain to pull our heavy luggage up!! A real workout. Not recommend if you have old folks or big, and many luggage. - For family, it would be good if the room could be bigger.

- Location is great. Right in the middle of the small town. Not need to walk much, as Melk is just a small village. - It’s clean and the bed is comfortable. The toilet and the bathroom is separated. Water flow is great and warm for winter.

As noted in other reviews, no shampoo or soap for shower and no coffee or tea (Nespresso capsules available for purchase at 2 euros each).

Superb location, one flight of steps down to the main street in the old city and easy five minute walk from the free parking lot. Rooms were very modern in a lovely old building and were super clean, comfortable, large shower and basic kitchen and all worked well. Short term parking in front of hotel for luggage quick drop nowhere near as daunting as some reviews suggest.

The heat didn't worked, even was a cold weather. The radiators start to heat just on the last morning.

Very good location in historical downtown. Free parking for check-in/check-out in front of the house. After that, you can park for free near the gas station, next to the main road. Nice building, old style decorated. Large apartment with all you need to spend few days or longer time (kitchen, etc.). A small balcony with monastery view, if you want to go out for smoking.
