How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The internet was not working throughout our 3-day stay and there was no TV in the apartment. However, neither of these was a serious problem for us.
Excellent location in a lively neighbourhood with many restaurants, bars and shops around. Spacious and comfortably furnished apartment suitable for two families. Toilet separated from the bathroom. Situated on the first floor (right above the ground floor), elevator available. Not noisy. 200m away from the reasonably priced public parking garage of the Technical University.

Location is very good, close to the center. Host recommended us many restaurants and cafes, we tried some of them and loved. Rooms and beds are large and comfortable. It was all clean. Heating was good.

Travelling with children, a television would not go amiss, although it is not a reason we would not stay, it would have been a cherry on the top.
The apartment is close to all amenities. There are lovely independent restaurants and shops in close proximity and the transport links open up Wien and make all cultural pursuits accessible.

Check-in was 3:30pm. Our flight arrival time was 11:30am. I messaged the property a few days in advance to ask if we could leave our luggage in the apartment and come back at 3:30pm when the apartment had been cleaned etc. but unfortunately the hosts would not agree to this which meant we had to sit in a nearby Cafe for over two and a half hours waiting to check-in which didn't happen until closer to 4pm.
Apartment France is fabulous. Everything we needed was in the apartment and the sweet treats and bottle of wine was a very nice touch. The apartment is in a very central location and only minutes away from the nearest Metro. We had a really lovely time in Vienna.

Amazing service. Communication was simply as good as it gets. Options of things to go in Vienna, a bottle of wine and goodies on the pillows. Spectacular. 5 mins walk to the Naschmarkt and easy access to the city. Fans for the heat ready and going in all rooms. Highly recommend.

What a gorgeous apartment with large rooms and high ceilings. Comfortable beds and big fluffy towels plus little gifts on check in. Kitchen was great and had everything you could need.

It looks a bit like unfinished appartment, as if missing some furniture, tv etc.

The apartment is really great location with a short walk to subway and shopping center. The facilities is well equipped and function-able. Host always supported us and provided additional tips during our stays.

It is a little bit noisy from the street but is normal because is in the city center.
Very good location, spacious and clean. the communication with the host was very good and the we have been received very warm.

The location is in different kind of place, Young, close to the tech university, so many bars and hip restaurants. People who like vegan has many options, but also regular food lovers Everything is 10 minutes away. No AC but there are fans provided, and good curtains. Fully equipped kitchen. Planty of space. A big plus, not so touristic as other places, but many places are really close by.

the living room needs a TV and the second bedroom needs a wardrobe
The holiday started slightly with the left foot,because the address of the apartment did not correspond to the location on the booking.com app and the apartment was not ready in time, we had to wait more than two hours until they finished cleaning the apartment, but we agreed with the owner and we stayed two more hours at check out, meaning we did not vacate the apartment at 10, but at 12 (In the hours we had to wait, we were provided with an office for luggage storage ) Otherwise, only words of praise: I found a bottle of wine on the table, sweets put on the bed, for each guest, coffee for the coffee machine, detergents for the dishwasher and for the laundry machine (on the laundry machine I don't have used it because we stayed too little time), large beds and very comfortable mattresses and we managed to rest very well after the large number of kilometers traveled during the day. The apartment in an area easily accessible to many objectives, many restaurants nearby, the apartment spacious, clean, equipped with absolutely everything you need for a pleasant stay. For those who come by car, you should know that at about 50 m distance - at the Technical University WIPARK Technische Uni Operngasse Parkgarage is a parking lot where the daily fee is 7.90 €, unlike another parking lot where I was initially, where it costs about 40 € / day.
