How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The staff was very helpful and kind, there was even a candy on the pillow. The room was very clean. It's simple but very comfortable. There was 2 single beds separated from each other, but it was ok. The breakfast was simple but very good.

it would have been nice to have a fridge . Beware the internal steps.
we liked the fact that this is part of the monastery complex, that there was no TV, and that there was a kettle in the room. The location was excellent and the bells stopped at night. We could open the windows.

Leaving !!
Very convenient location, very comfortable lodging, peaceful and serene. The room was beautifully decorated and everything you needed. The breakfast was wonderful. We especially appreciated the quietness of the whole place, with no tv or radios and none at breakfast either. Staff were excellent.

As a married couple it would have been better to have a double bed.
The location is perfect. Close to Schottentor U we saw all our intended attractions in our 5 day stay. Breakfast was just what we needed. Excellent pastries and cheese in particular. And all enjoyed in a peaceful environment which I think all guests appreciate and respect.

Sadly we missed the first night of our stay owing to the German rail strikes, so it was all too short.
The building is very old and interesting but the facilities and comfort of a modern standard. Our room was quiet (apart from the bells) facing into a courtyard. We were well looked after by the staff - they packed a breakfast for us to take on our early train.

There is a lack of information that the hotel offers a discount for parking.
It is a lovely hotel in a great location. Walking distance to the city center It is not a typical hotel and that makes it super special. Very nice and reach breakfasts.

The location is excellent as it is in the city center. The staff was very friendly and helped us with all our questions. The room was well equipped and big. My partner is allergic to gluten and they adapted the breakfast to offer her gluten free bread and cereals. I highly recommend this place.

The beds and pillows could have been better. The beds are narrow, short, old stylish. The pillow was too big and too soft.
I loved the location - in the middle of Inner City. The breakfast was fantastic, the women serving us were very kind and understanding. They allowed me to eat before the official start so I could arrive in time to my early session on the congress. The spiral staircase charming. The bathroom modern and light.

Beautiful building and the cleanest place I have ever stayed in. Rooms are simple but beautiful in their simplicity. I felt the extremely safe at this venue. Everything worked very well and staff friendly and helpful. Great for a short city break. Not for you if you want a party vibe. Excellent location

Unable to get hold of anyone on first arrival to say that electric sockets were not working. Tried to ring the number given to contact outside of reception hours but no one answered.
Great location. Novelty to stay in an old monastery. Very clean. Staff helpful.

Check in time very limited. Despite arrival in check in time, difficult to get inside.
Excellent location. Very clean room. Quiet place. Comfortable bed. Decent breakfast. This is the place for people who appreciate very quiet place and respect its rules.
