Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The pension is located in a farm in a countryside neighborhood, and is easily reachable with the train from Salzburg, or even walking in 45 min. The family who takes care of the pension is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is great, with natural products from surrounding farms. The room was very comfortable and perfectly clean. I highly recommend.

United KingdomIt's an old house, hence no elevator. Completely understandable, still quite some work to get the 20 kg suitcase up the second floor. But again, that's what you get when you book a stay in an old farm house rather than a modern hotel.
Excellent service, big room with balcony, spacious bathroom. Vast breakfast buffet. All for a very reasonable price.

AustraliaNot much I didn’t like. Just some milk in the fridge outside the rooms would have meant I could have had tea whenever I wanted. Also fans in toilets/bathrooms.
The most homey feel. Great staff. Wonderful breakfast. Warm. Comfortable beds.

Czech RepublicI am a light sleeper and unfortunately, this cannot be helped but sounds carried, such as a nearby bell chiming each hour from outside. So I didn't sleep as well as I usually would
The pension was very clean and tidy and the owner was very friendly and welcoming! She very kindly gifted a little homemade jam when leaving, and it was delicious! The breakfast was great, felt cosy, the coffee was good and the food varied :) very pleasant!

United StatesMy only grievance is the need to blow dry my hair in the hallway because the bathroom outlet could not accommodate the proper voltage. I should have asked for an extension cord.
Pension Helmhof was just as we had hoped! Charming and homey. Clean and comfortable. Perfectly situated in a quant, quiet village an easy bus ride from Old Town Salzburg. Andrea is a very kind and attentive hostess , always making sure we had what we needed. The breakfast spread was quite the delightful epicurean experience! We would highly recommend staying here!

United KingdomIt's a lovely place which has a cosy atmosphere. The rooms are clean and comfortable. It's situated in a picturesque place which is great for a walk. Beautiful views from the balcony. The owner is very helpful and caring. Breakfast was lovely, served in pretty cups and plates. You can have your breakfast in a lovely garden outside or in cosy inside rooms inside. The house is well looked after, and attention to detail is impressive. Homemade apricot smoothy/juice is very tasty. We would like to stay there again.

TurkeyOnly downside is that the bus is until around 23:00 and afterwards you need to take a taxi (around 10 euros from city center) or walk around 45mins if you like it.
A perfect family hotel run by the same family since 60s. very clean and with a very good breakfast. It is not in city center but close to the city and you can go with a single bus. Owners are very helpful about everything and the details they have are amazing. You will eat perfectly boiled eggs everyday.

AustraliaThere is a church bell that begins ringing at 4am, due to the old Austrian traditions of waking at 4am and going to bed at 7pm. It then rings on the hour, there after. Not so great when you are a light sleeper. Also, there is no air con, which is fine if you are staying when the weather isn't hot. We had one day that was very hot and there was no fan or air con to cool down, after a hot, humid day, only could open the door/window.
This is a lovely place to stay if you are after a true Austrian homestay feel. The dining room is decked out traditionally, with fresh bread, rolls and croissants daily for breakfast, home laid eggs, and homemade jams and spreads. The room was very lovely and clean and our hostess was very helpful. It really was a lovely view from the balcony, too.

NepalRight from the entrance of the hotel, it was amazing. I was mesmerized with the location and the locality. It is a perfect weekend retreat to have a stay and feel rejuvenated. The interiors of the hotel was fully Austrian and the vibe of ground floor reception and kitchen was just awesome. Really warm and cosy, perfectly depicting the culture and its diversity. The rooms were cosy too with all enriching facilities and the French window opening to the beautiful mountain sunrise was just magical. I am a mountain lover and I would visit and recommend this place to all fellow travelers. Little far from the center, but gives totally a countryside vibe and vibrant energy. And most importantly, the owners were super friendly and behaved like a family.
