There was some inconsistency in the staff’s treatment. When I checked in I asked a reception girl where I could make a smoke. She said that it is possible on the balcony located on the 4th floor. I followed her advice. A couple of days later I was read by another staff member who noticed me smoke on the balcony. She said that it is not allowed. Thought I saw that this balcony had even an ash tray. And I specifically asked about it during my check-in..I felt myself disgraced.

Location, location and location!!! It looks like you transfers to a couple of centuries ago or more. All the main sights are in the walking distance. The place is very atmospheric and convenient for a stay.

It is because right behind the St. Stephen’s Cathedral, you can hear the bell sound very clearly. But it is the perk of the location and not problem for us.

We were unable to get two single rooms, but that is because of the popularity of the gasthaus.

Breakfast was not available but there was an exceptionally good cafe at the other side of the courtyard. There was no 'hotel' feeling about the gasthaus.

Location in the heart of the city, near the opera house. Lovely size l shaped room meant that one of us could go to bed while the other could sit in the lounge area. Supermarket opposite.

Corridor floors squeaky but didn't hear anything when in our room so hopefully didn't disturb anyone else. But to be expected with the age and history of building. Only fault we could find.

Though it would be helpful to have reception open in the evening (when I arrived), I am also pleased to hear of reduced hours for the staff’s sake. It sets a tone of rest rather than the constant activity of our world.

I liked being in amongst some of the old city, and the concert I attended on the property.

Entrance really hard to find. It’s not actually at the address listed, but about 50 metres away. Some decent signage directing you to the correct location would help

Wonderful location within walking distance of the main city centre. There is an underground station nearby. The hotel is basic and no frills, and good value for central Vienna. They stored our luggage for a few hours on the day of check out.

The location is great. It’s near from Stephansplatz Station. This guesthouse is located in the church. The reception is on the third floor, and you can use an elevator. The room was small but comfortable. I could see St. Stephen’s cathedral from my room. I woke up with the bell from the cathedral in the morning, and it was such a nice experience.

Drains smelt a little like Kraut which got overpowering. Probably understandable for a very old building.

Excellent location- right in the heart of the old city. Very historic building and heaps of places to eat around the property. Very helpful staff. Warmed up nicely in the evenings. Bed was comfortable and doona warm. Clean. You could see the gorgeous Stefansplatz church from the window. Good shower water power and warm showers. There was also a common area you could use to do work.
