How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The property is exactly as shown in pictures. very near to salt mine and bus station. And a stone throw away from the lake. it is at the side/ entrance of the town centre and so it’s away from the bustling town centre. Very spacious room with balcony. Clean and nice. I even saw a deer crossing in the morning at 5.20am.

It was a little spare on amenities, no facial tissue, hand cream, or mini fridge. The decor was minimal but functional. The bed was very firm, and the sheets were not linen
This pension checked all the boxes for superior. It was clean, well organized, and situated in an easy to access part of the village. There was excellent complimentary parking, too. We would stay there again.

The bed was very creaky, and would wake us up every time one of us moved in our sleep Not sure why in Europe they like using 2 mattresses instead of one, makes it a little uncomfortable Didn't realise until we got there but there was no fridge which in my opinion is a minimum for any hotel. Fortunately the staff let us use the fridge downstairs Bathroom small Room view was of the cable car, where sometimes they could look through the window
We got there early to drop off our bags around 11am and they let us check in early which was nice Staff were good Location is okay, near the center, pretty quiet outside

Location very strategic, only 5 minutes walking from Hallstatt main bus station, and Mine Salt funicular station. It have a very nice view. Plus if you plan to travel to Prague, there is shuttle bus on parking area

I'm not sure if there is airconditioning in the room at all. It felt stuffy at night so we opened the window but if it's high summer, it will be uncomfortable so do check with the hotel about this. There is no mini fridge so you can't keep any food. And there is no elevator which means we had to carry luggage up the wooden stairs.
The location is wonderful. just behind this small hotel is the funicular to take up to the Hallstatt Skywalk and Salt Mine. And just across the road is the village itself. We also did a nice walk that starts near the car park area behind the hotel. Breakfast was good too (recommended to go for the option). Room is clean and quiet. We slept well.

It was very clean, comfortable, new, with parking all the! The area was very nice and the pension was in the center. Very basic for the area because we were by feet. To have car in the center was very difficult with the parking.

The location of the property was perfect. It was just 2 mins walk from the bus stand . It has a beautiful view from the balcony. everything was easily reachable from the property. We loved our stay !!

The location is a bit unsatisfying, it’s around 10-15mins walk from the Markt harbour; it’s much closer to the salt mine. Especially I was carrying a big heavy suitcase, it’s a bit inconvenient.
The view is excellent, the staff are friendly and helpful, the reception is very kind, he explains everything and gives me the tour guides while I was checking in.

The room was outdated, like from the 80s, and towels were just awful - Polyester that didn’t absorb any water.
Lovely place, they gave us an upgrade so we had a room with balcony and the Mountain View. Tasty breakfast, definitely worth €15 per person because in a cafe in the town you will pay more. Rolls and bread were fresh, warm and crispy. Reception staff were helpful and location was just perfect!

The breakfast was very good. The staff was nice, and the location was beautiful. I really enjoyed my stay and the bus pass was also very nice to have. Great place to stay overall.

Expensive, but still a great price for the area. Other than that, no complaints at all :)
location great, right next to the funicular up to the salt mines, close to the rest of the village. Maybe a 5-10 minute walk from where you get off of the ferry. The room was so clean, lovely, and spacious. Bed comfortable. Reception staff friendly

There was a kettle in the room but no free tea or coffee. I find the single room rate very expensive, I don't know if it's peak season for ski or it's just the average rate
I liked that the location is very accessible to shops & restaurants. Dinner set menu is very affordable.
