Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

AustriaDirt and dust everywhere. Wooden bed frames were broken. There was someone’s clothes and food left in the closet, I guess the cleaning lady hasn’t checked inside the closet for ages. The discription is not very accurate. It says that the toilet is shared, therefore I hoped the room has a private bathroom, but the bathroom was shared as well.
We booked it on the same day, so didn’t have much choice. Good location. Friendly lady who showed as the room.

BelgiumWe were litterally kicked out from the room! I made the reservation online, I met the lady at the property, I paid the room, filled the form. We went 200 hundred meter away to a place to eat and drink something and we came 1 hour later. I took one bag from the car and a guy came and starting to complain about how I parked my car in a very rude manner. I moved the car, I went in the room and immediately the same guy came and start shouting to leave the room! I couldn't believe! I asked explanations and he was keep saying: "I am not interested!" He actually is the son of the lady I paid to. He said he rented the room to somebody else. I tried to tell him that my wife has a medical condition... same answer: " I am not intersted!" I got my money back, but I am still in shock! We found another place to stay over the night, but... Before you rent in this place, think twice! You can be the next victim!

SpainAwfull! Dont ever spend the night there. Everything was messed up and not clean. The worst: the personal: he was unkind when receiving us and recognized that he had been drinking that night. We did not feel safe, bit it was too late to find other place. I think that nightmare hostel shouldnt be announced on Booking.

RomaniaI arrived before 11 p.m., although they had announced that it would be possible to arrive around 00 a.m. They did not respond to my message on Booking. I tried to contact them by phone, they called but they didn't answer. Then they turned off their phone so I was unable to check in. I notified the Booking.com site of the situation to cancel the reservation and not have my money taken on the reservation and I later stayed at another location
