Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe hotel has lots of historical character. I had a big sitting room with a big bedroom up a small flight of stairs with a wooden beams in the ceiling. Much more interesting than modern hotel rooms but still with modern features like good WiFi. The receptionist was very friendly and breakfast was very good too.

The location was great, with a wonderful view on the mountains. The room was huge, very clean and made you feel safe everytime you went in. I mean, you're sleeping in a castle, right?

United StatesBecause this is a really old hotel (about 500 years), it's not laid out as a current designer would plan but that's part of the charm, an old hotel in an old town which is worth exploring.
Breakfast was served which allowed for egg dishes. The restaurant food was good.

United StatesThe air conditioner for the room could have functioned better to keep the room more comfortable and a larger fridge to accommodate leftover and travel food would have been appreciated. We also had to be somewhat selective at the restaurant as vegetarians.
The personal sauna in the suite was amazing and the highlight of staying there. The room was one of the most spacious we have stayed in, and everything in the suite was well designed. The building itself is easily reached by car from the highway and has a beautiful interior. The food at the restaurant helped keep us going between adventures and was very delicious. Being able to quickly walk to the green spaces surrounding the old Mint made it easy to keep our dog exercised and happy.

AustriaThe fact that you have a lot of steps to take to get to the reception with your luggage is maybe not ideal for older people.

IrelandI stayed in the room at the very top of the hotel. Floor 5.lift only went to floor 4. Not a major problem but just to note Also remember the hotel was built in 16th century, plenty of character!!
Breakfast was lovely. Freshly made on request. Location was excellent, 5 min walk into the beautiful old town of Hall. The staff were so lovely and nothing a problem! Always smiling 😊

BelgiumI let know that I'd be arriving later in the evening as I was driving in all the way from Belgium - maybe around 21h00 - it wasn't the most hospitable reception, definitely not rude, just maybe a bit cold. Otherwise all other staff members were a joy and very kind my whole stay.
The beds were probably the comfiest I've ever slept in with memory foam mattresses. The breakfast was beyond expectation - you can request which "course" you wanted - simple bread & charcuterie, yoghurt & fruit ...

DenmarkFor a 4 star, I was quite disappointed from the get-go. We arrived in the evening and were met by a closed door, leading us to enter through the restaurant (quite awkward to enter a restaurant with bags and trolleys). The official entrance closes at 18 (one of the days we arrived back at the hotel at 17:15, and it was closed, though). If you are not back before, you have to enter from the restaurant. I have no idea how to enter if the restaurant is closed, so I am happy we did not experience that. The hotel lobby was nearly never staffed, and the staff was running around doing a lot of other stuff. They seemed to care more about the restaurant than the hotel. When we checked in, we got no information about anything, e.g., he seemed unknowledgeble about the breakfast times. He seemed more concerned about getting back to the restaurant, and we seemed an inconvenience to him. The room was at a first glance what you would expect from a 4 star, but the bed was so close to the bathroom door that there was no room to open it fully. The curtains were about 20cm from the window, so it did not keep much of the sun out. The bed had a memory foam top layer, which was not comfortable (personal preference). After the first night, we noticed a bug in the ceiling that upon closer inspection turned out to be a type of silverfish (skægkræ in Danish) that is considered a pest. We caught it and showed it at reception. Their explanation was something about moisture and heat located behind the Minifridge and that they would look into it. In return, they gave us 3 beers, although we said we don't drink on our vacation, so it wasn't any use for us. Knowing that these pests can live for many years and reproduce quickly, we got concerned that we would bring them home with us after our stay. Bringing it up at the reception was met with annoyance and that they would take care of it. We found another two after that. The breakfast was mediocre at best with no flavour on the eggs.
Cleaning of the room was done in the afternoon. Heated floor in bathroom, the bathroom was generally very nice with good water pressure, good size and big mirror. Minifridge was great Temperature well adjusted in the room No creaky sounds in the room when walking on the floor (only in the hallways) Generally quiet but the door to the hallway is not sound proof at all. You can hear everything

United StatesThe rooms might be a bit dated but they are nice. I was a bit surprised that house keeping didn’t replace the clearly used glasses. Also the menus are all out of date.
