Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

South AfricaIt wasn’t clear that in our room were no cooking facilities whatsoever. The common area was fine but only had a kettle and a stove. Difficult to make food and grocery store is kms away with not much to offer that can be cooked via stove. The owner spoke not one word of English and expected us to make payment when we had already paid. We were charged a fee after we left and were never told why. No way to communicate with them unless you phone their landline and can speak German.
Beautiful little house with stunning views. Right opposite a ski bus stop. Great ski drying facilities. The male owner gave us a big discount off our ski rental stuff which was very kind.

GreeceThe apartment was kind of empty. For example there was no shampoo/shower gel/towels. Also we were oblidged from the owner to pay an extra amount of money at the end, without being aware of it during the booking stage. Another negative is that the owner did not speak English (if we didn't know any German, then it would have been extremely difficult to communicate)
The host was kind. The location was also good. The apartment was clear and warm. The price was also decent and fair enough.

Self catering apartment, within easy reach of all of the ski resorts in the area. Friendly hosts and staff who leave you to get on with your vacation but are always available should the need arise.

RomaniaThe old lady who is the owner of the house was always keeping us in eye. Everything we did , everywhere we go she was “following” us. One day a friend came at us to talk about the next day skiing and her husband directly questioned us who is the other person and what is he doing there. The next day the old lady call us and she said she is calling the police because we are 5 not 4. In the last day when she found out that we are going home she tried to be nice. So if you want a nice stay but with some “old lady adventures” , I reccomend it :)))
it’s a very nice house and it’s on the top of the hill with a beautiful view. It’s clean and there is a little restaurant or place for breakfasr.

PolandContact with owners very difficult, huge problem to recive correct invoice, I gave company data and they are not able to write correct company name, after many mails, asking even thru Booking.com still not receive correct invoice... Sauna is there but you cannot use becase there is nobody to turn it on, we order one day earlier again nobody to turn it on... The skibus stops next to the hotel but runs every hour and last skibus back is at 17.00, to early after this time you dont have any other possibility than walk 2,5km.
